Holy fuck I'm amazed so many of those guys were able to drag themselves out of their basements to attend that "concert"

Oh and vocaloids are complete and utter shit, they make Justin Bieber look like Luciano Pavarotti. If I ever found myself enjoying one I would be forced to kill myself out of shame.

It's amusing that middle America is completely clueless as to the existence of the rest of the world.

I seem to have a problem 'getting with the times'. For some reason I am stuck between 1984 and 1996. I listen to the same 80s/90s songs over and over. i love the new old vintage look of product packagings, and i watch 80s/90s sitcom re-runs. what is wrong with me? anyone else 'stuck' in a certain time period?

The 80s were the best time of my life. I have machines from the 80s sitting here on my desk, in perfect working condition. I still dream about the 80s. Nothing is wrong with you -- you're just remembering the best time ever for our generation. :)

As a matter-of-fact, I was just reading about the old BBSes. I miss those days.

Or it's called getting older and younger generations tastes change. You don't think your grand daddy was saying the same thing in his life time? Please....

The difference is that this generation agrees that the 00's are shit.

Music wise, it feels like growing up in the late 80's / throughout the 90's, a lot of bands had a passion for their music. They obviously played to get paid, but their true drive was to make music that they were proud of.

These days, it feels like nearly every band is just releasing song after song as a cash grab. They couldn't care less about what the song sounds like or means, just how many hits it's getting on iTunes and YouTube / VEVO.

Most of the newer bands I've "discovered" in the past few years have been European. It's just nice to see that "we don't give a shit what you think about our music, we like it" attitude again.

Yep, it happens to every generation. Kids love something and it sucks, or it's ok, but we've seen it done before and are not impressed.

That said, I just don't get crabcore, cookie monster, constant blast beat teabag rock. I can't foresee a future where anyone will look back on this stuff as the good old days.

Can you imagine the kids today 50 years from now?

"What is this Space Orbit Tranfuse pop crap? Back in our days, we had Justin Bieber who actually danced IRL and sang his own songs without DNA-enhancement!"

There were bands "assembled" by music industry people instead of forming on their own back then too. See Journey, the Monkees, etc. It's just that we don't remember old shitty bands or forgettable albums, we're only aware of the recent ones.

The best rock came out between 1960 and 1981.
-The Beatles
-The Rolling Stones
-Led Zeppelin
-Pink Floyd
-Cream
-Rush
-The Who
-Peter Frampton
-Jimi Hendrix

The list goes on. I can't think of any bands in the last 20 years that were as prolific or continuously popular. Nickleback... uh... doesn't count.

I've found myself listening to a lot of stuff from the 40s lately. I have eclectic tastes.

Some early grunge bands like Pearl Jam got off to a great start, but they didn't follow through.

Interesting. I'm stuck in periods I was not even born in.

Music wise 1965-1970s

Movies all I watch is classics, a lot of B&W too. Love Bogart.

Nostalgia is an incredible thing.

The older i get, the more i realize how amazing it is & how it tends to ruin the present because no matter how great, it can't top that awesomeness in the past...
