Just to piss people off, I would complain all the time about having to take a ferry to get anywhere!

I doubt you could get a private island for 1 million dollars

They're comparing her to Billionaires. She pretty much is Poor in that comparison.

The problem is she was probably expecting to be able to to live the rest of her life sipping margaritas in the Caribbean. Now she's probably starting to realize that while $10mil is a decent amount of money, it isn't enough to get away with doing nothing for the rest of your life, at least not if you have ambitions of living high on the hog.

She can come out here, buy a car like mine, buy a house like mine, buy a PC like mine and everything else like mine and still have $9.7M

I like how her definition of not being middle class involves a private driver

I think that's part of the problem. Too many rich people justify the value and satisfaction of their wealth in comparison to other's wealth instead of limiting their justifications to how their wealth is improving their life. That kind of thinking is an endless spiral was dissatisfaction. Never content.

It's a nice looking apartment. If she didn't want to walk up 6 floors, I'm sure that the tenants on the first floor would trade with her. Did you see the TV she was watching? If you sold your business for $100,000 tomorrow and had that TV, what would be the first thing that you'd buy?? :D

It astounds me that lots of people who make millions are dumb as a rock:( I can't see how she fails to see a solution to this problem.

you cant expect someone to move out of there town.

The first thing you expect when rich is you think you can live BETTER in the town your currently at.

:\

The whole story is about inflation. And how bad its got.

i have clients who were litterally millionares overnight. And they all share the same common story with this lady. With more income comes more taxes and other things.

How the hell do you manage to have clients that are millionaires when you have no idea how to spell or use correct grammar?

W/ 10 mil I'd buy a small island in the carribean, build a house and a dock, buy a sportfishing boat and a cessna w/ floats and become a guide. put the rest in the bank and live off the interest.

It's all relative. Unless you're Bill Gates or Warren Buffett, there will always be someone out there who has more than you.

C'mon, look at her. She just looks like a b*tch.

I couldn't decide if I was projecting that to her based on the headline or that she truely did look like a bitch. One things for sure: she's a bitch!

I love one guy's response to the article:

When people tell me 23 million dollars is a lot, it just tells me one thing: they obviously have never had 23 million dollars. You're ignorant. You're all ignorant.

Granted this is just my opinion, but 2-5 million would be more than enough for a single person to retire with and live *comfortably*. Not retire filthy rich sipping strawberry daiquiris and lying on the beach all day, or living in a godforsaken shack begging for change daily....living reasonably well and comfortable with a roof over your head and able to indulge in some leisurely activities without the necessity of working.

The only way that much money is inadequate would be either personal disatisfaction/insecurity (as people have already pointed out), or using a different standard of measuring. In my example, I was thinking of personal retirement. On the other hand, if you compare yourself to Fortune 500 wealthiest individuals, are thinking of investment ie venture capital....23 million is indeed 'not alot'. But by most measures....yes, 23 million is alot; more than alot for *most things*.

Who cares period? Who is this article for? Billionaires don't care that she isn't one of them. Other millionaires don't care because they're doing fine. And the rest of us peasants certainly do not care about the non-problems of some tard that fell ass backwards into being "very rich" instead "mega stupid rich".

I have to assume the purpose of the article is to facilitate the creation of a lynch mob.

im sure you could

hell you can buy entire townships in Maine for that much

link?

In the Caribbean you can't get much island for the dollar, but up north, where it's less desirable for "most" people, the pricing is much more affordable.
There are many islands for sale, many (as in hundreds) of them are under 1 million dollars. You can see some of them listed at this site: http://www.privateislandsonline.com/

I would be perfectly happy with something like this ... 250 Acres in the Atlantic off of Nova Scotia Canada: http://www.privateislandsonlin...island-nova-scotia.htm

Demon-Xanth ... sorry I ddin't read your replies before posting this. I started to reply over an hour ago and then got pulled away from my desk. I continued my post rather than refreshed my screen .... Looks like you made the point for me, and used less words (thus were more efficient!) w00t.
