Feel so lonely...

I hate parting ways with my best friends..it sucked when we parted ways after summer, sucked even worse after winter break, and it sucks to an even greater degree now that spring break is over.

What's weird though is that I feel more and more awkwardly distant each time I see them, and it's more like I just miss what we had rather than actually missing them..

Sadly, it just a fact of life Syringer 🙁
Unfortunately it is. I have not spoken to my main group of HS friends in two years and I only graduated 4 years ago.

I guess I've never really had this problem since I'm a military brat. I moved around every 2 to 4 years, so haven't had the opportunity to make lifelong friends. I have been living in Panama CIty for 4 years now, and I only have 2 very close friends (but many people I just consider friends). I'm glad that I didn't go to a major university and decided to go with my local community college so we are still friends 😀

This is a sad but true part of life.
Do you think that you're growing apart?

I think so..and what makes it worse is that I know I miss them more than they miss me.

It's like, after summer, I think we kind of missed each other equally, but then they sort of moved on..while I'm still stuck in the past.

And uncoincedentally I think my post per day count has grown considerably over this period 😉

And..these are girls by the way..and they pretty much have each other too, while I'm just on my own.

Did you ever slip the sausage of power to them? Or was this a "I was too afraid to go for it" platonic relationship?

I was never interested in anything more than what we had..

Welcome to adulthood - now you know why old people sit in front of porches and do nothing but yell at people 😉

Lol..yes childhood is truly wasted on the youth.

Honestly, I went through the exact same thing - friendship breeds on proximity - what i have found out is that you have to actively keep contact with old friends, even though it may be a pain sometimes. Good luck with that.

It's not like I don't talk to them..but it just slowly gets more and more awkward, as if I try to hard to make it work.
