Feds seize another domain ?

I thought the COICA bill still hadn't past yet. But apparently that doesn't matter anymore. The site was a streaming site deemed legal by Spanish courts and was seized anyway.

Whether these sites broke the law or not isn't the point, they were just cut off without a hearing, trial or due process.

The site gives the picture

Along with other sites that were seized.

Operation In Our Sites, a US initiative to crack down on websites related to online copyright infringement, appears to be ongoing. Rojadirecta is a site that links to (but does not host) broadcasts of major sporting events, including soccer matches. It is highly popular in Spain, where it has prevailed twice in court after its legal status was challenged. However, US authorities have now seized the .org domain of the website without notifying the site's owner or its web host, GoDaddy.

On another note how did they seize the domain if GoDaddy was the registrar without notifying them ?

:hmm:

This isn't cool. If this were something that weren't as "transparent" as the internet is, most people would be outraged.

Due process? Psh. As long as the government is in the business of protecting megacorporations bottom lines this kind of shit is perfectly acceptable. Gotta do something to keep the campaign contributions rolling in.

The funny thing is that this drives those sites (demonoid & atdhe) to take a .me domain. It doesn't actually do anygood...

Maybe we should start having businesses pay the salaries of these gov't groups rather than our taxes since they seem to be working for them... :hmm:

LOL, Homeland Security. Because this threatens the security of our homeland. This bullshit is starting to sound more and more like Germany 1933-1945.
I was listening to NPR Marketplace this morning which had a short tidbit on this.
The NFL supplied Homeland Security with a list of sites that the NFL felt were stealing stuff.
HS justified the seizures with job losses, bad economy, etc.

More outraging than this happening in the first place is the lack of outrage over it.

Exactly. People should quite literally be up in arms over this.

It will happen, eventually. Within the next 250 years, I would bet. Wish I could be around to see it. :awe:
