Feds Search for Man Allegedly on 'Mission to Kill the President'

Murray allegedly asked if the bank was solvent and then stated, according to the complaint, "With all this mess going on under President Obama with banks and the economy, I'm sure if citizens happen to lose their money, they will rise up and we could see killing and deaths."

I sure hope they have more on this guy then what was quoted above. Hell, if they are gonna go on a wild goose hunt for saying that then half the right wingers on here are probably under investigation.

I'm thinking there is more to the story then this. Maybe some of you fools should start thinking before you post. It ought to be interesting to see what he has to say or what he gets charged with when they catch up to this guy.

I know, there is this bit... allegedly said he was part of a mission to kill the president, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney in Salt Lake City told ABC News. Murray is believed to have access to firearms.

He'll be labeled as a domestic terrorist and shipped off somewhere and we'll never hear about it again.

Clearly the answer is to take guns away from Americans.

I hate to say this - but this story is jumping the gun a bit...

Ya, there must be more to this. If there isn't some people are on a hair trigger and I'm not talking about DJ Murray.

Not jumping any gun, I'm just reporting what I read.

If you don't like it, don't post till they catch him or till the gun shots start going off.

Chill. I'm not attacking you posting this story. I'm interested in the facts that are forthcoming...

Murray then said, "We are on a mission to kill the president of the United States," according to the complaint.

If that's true then it's very deserving of investigation, though according to TFA it's apparently not an uncommon thing for the secret service to deal with. I wonder if we'll even ever hear about the resolution of this case.

They probably just want to have a chat with him regarding his statements... What position he's sitting in and how much water they give him is at the feds discretion though... I mean multiple men might be poised to kill the president if we can find out their names through this guy it should be gotten by any means necessary right?

One can hypothetically yell kill the referee at a basketball game and little will happen, but as soon as one substitutes the word President or in this case Obama, the secret service is going to investigate. And after reading the link, there is more than ample evidence that they should. I don't have any statistics to offer on how many such complaints are investigated by the secret service in a average year, but most of those threats are deemed harmless.

But on a possibly humorous note, we will know he is a big threat when they raid his previous residence and they call it a compound.

Maybe its just me, but that quote doesn't seem to be a threat on Obama. It seems to me he is saying people will revolt, chaos will ensue and people may kill each other. He is just saying Obama might be teh cause of this. Who knows, maybe he has said other things that warrant an investigation though.

"We are on a mission to kill the president of the United States"

So what does that mean then?

Murray is believed to have access to firearms.

I love this line. What does it mean exactly? "Has access to firearms" could simply mean he's eligible to buy a gun (as are most adults in America). It was clearly just added by the reporter to up the alarmist tone of the article.

That is a clear and present threat.

I wonder how many people heard this threat, and who reported it. Could be they have a score to settle with Murray.

Let me quote the article, which you did not read.

"There are at least eight firearms registered to Murray, ranging from semi-automatic pistols to revolvers, some capable of carrying 15 rounds of ammunition and easy to conceal," the complaint said.

Interesting, thank you. Reading the article, he does appear to be a bit unstable.

OMG! It's one of those super deadly semi-automatic handguns capable of 15 rounds! Those are so rare and deadly!

The OP screwed up and did NOT post the relevent quotes from the guy.

Here are ALL the quotes:

"With all this mess going on under President Obama with banks and the economy, I'm sure if citizens happen to lose their money, they will rise up and we could see killing and deaths."

"Not to be disrespectful, but if I don't get this money, someone is going to die."

"We are on a mission to kill the president of the United States,"

"We are 94 million miles from the sun, and are in-between the sun and moon, and the eagle that flies between them, and it's a giant step for mankind. ... I have traveled thousands of miles to be here and know things that are going to happen. ... The banking system will fail and people will die. ... There will be chaos in the world."

Not to mention the guy is moving an awful lot of money for being just a common nut.

He made a valid threat and that, plus the money are enough probable cause to check him out.

They guy sounds like he's off his gourd
They should investigate to make sure it is not a legitimate threat, BUT if all they are going on is a bank tellers recalling of the things said then IF it makes it to a court they are going to have a hard time getting it to stick with no actual evidence.

It' ABCnews, they had to throw it in to try and further their anti-gun agenda.
Also, Utah doesn't have gun registration how would they know what he has unless he came from one of the few states that has registration.

Given the (underlined) quote above, and his unusual money withdrawls (untracable low denomination non-sequential bills) I think it reasonable they look for him.

He sounds like a real delusional nut, at the very least. Hope nobody gets hurt.
