"MIAMI — Federal authorities are concerned about new research showing U.S. prisons are vulnerable to computer hackers, who could remotely open cell doors to aid jailbreaks."

Hi there. So as you know we have this constant virus threat for prisons, nuclear centers and electric grids. What is the best way to keep a computer safe from virus threats? Disconnect it from the internet.

Why in the world is a prison network on the internet to be exposed to hackers anyways?? Is this some joke they are playing on stupid people?

i could understand if a monitor was connected to the intertubes so that they could, well, monitor. but the actual interlock mechanism? on the intarwebz? wtf?

so..who's bright idea was it to link cell doors to the internet? oh wait..i bet its a lie.

The stupidity of people never stops blowing my mind.
-someone designed a product where the locks can be controlled remotely
-someone asked for this to be designed
-NOBODY STOPPED IT FROM GOING THROUGH

GRRRRRR

Stupidity is not making prison networks disconnected. There should be NO reason any prison network touches the outside world.

Oops I see you live in TX. There are a lot of big prisons in TX. Sorry my bad. DOn't want them to come get you bro.

Not sure which nanny state you live in, but here we have something called a Castle law... Besides I dont think People here in TX would be stupid enough or have enough funds to hook up jail locks to internet...

HEHE, I know I have seen a bunch of stupid stuff like this from the projects I've done over the years. Usually it gets fixed when someone finally has the balls to tell the person in charge they are being retarded. Or when that person finally moves on from their current position and someone else takes over, which is usually the case in the military. And the new person realizes what a dumbfuck the previous person in charge was.

Stuxnet is a virus that needs network... point fail?

Network != internet.

Stuxnet attacked Windows systems using an unprecedented four zero-day attacks (plus the CPLINK vulnerability and a vulnerability used by the Conficker worm[31]). It is initially spread using infected removable drives such as USB flash drives, and then uses other exploits and techniques such as peer-to-peer RPC to infect and update other computers inside private networks that are not directly connected to the Internet
