I usually don't complain about shipping companies, but this one is ridiculous, especially because I paid for next-day delivery. Background: Yesterday I purchased a digital camera from Amazon, and being the impulsive fuck that I am, I opted for the Saturday delivery option. I have done this before and have never had an issue. A few hours after the order was submitted, I get a confirmation email with a tracking number. The FedEx tracking page said the delivery commitment would be 8/11 by 12:00pm. As you can see from the pic, that didn't happen. For some strange fucked up reason, they sent it from Indy to Memphis instead of sending it to Chicago. Why the fuck send the package in the opposite direction it's supposed to go? Anyways, I checked the status this morning at 8 AM and it hadn't updated last night and I thought "Hmm are they going to make it?" Sure enough I checked again at around 11:30 and they made an exception.

Fuck you for being such morons, Fedex. I paid for Saturday delivery and they didn't deliver. I wonder if they'll send another truck or something.

I wonder if it's the hub system striking again? Probably a screw up though. It always pisses me off when I get a shipment from the Texas warehouse for NewEgg and it goes through Tucson (where I am) to Phoenix and back to Tucson.

I dunno, but according to Google Maps, Indianapolis to Chicago is ~183mi, while Indianapolis to Memphis is ~464mi.

Probably was put inside the Memphis, TN truck by mistkae and caught later on when it arrived and then sent to Chicago, IL hub. But by then it was too late when it arrived at Schaumburg. :\

As I understand it, nearly all of FedEx's packages go through their hub, get sorted, and go back out. It is how they are able to function the way the do.

That being said, I am sure there are occasional problems. It happens.

It most likely flew down to Memphis, given that's FedEx's largest hub and its anchor hub. Whole lot of pkgs. of FedEx move through Memphis, even when it seems counter intuitive to do so, but it's where the vast majority of FedEx's planes are.

As for the OP, if you didn't get it delivered on Sat., file a claim with Amazon. You'll get your Sat. shipping charge refunded.

Everything I buy from Amazon goes to Memphis. I dont understand it sometimes when the package leaves California or Arizona(I live in New Mexico) and heads up that way but I usually get my stuff on time so I dont care where it goes.

It always cracks me up when ATOTers go into a rage when their new Video Card takes a day or 2 longer to be delivered!!!!

Holy crap! I ordered an A/C part I need for a car almost 2 weeks ago (Has no A/C without it!) and it hasn't even shipped yet AFAIK, sure, I am disgruntled, but at least I'm not seething with rage.

I think he's more upset about a failure for a company to deliver the service that was sold. He paid for Saturday delivery and did not receive what he paid for.

Nevertheless, FedEx ships 3 million packages per day. Even if they deliver 99.99% of them on time, there's still going to be a decent handful of people disappointed every single day.

OP happens to be one of them. Tell Amazon. Get a refund for the shipping cost. Enjoy your purchase when it's delivered on Monday. Life goes on.

Understanable.
Yet again, gotta have that Video Card ASAP, so pay extra to get it on Saturday instead of Monday.

With shipping companies (usually) good about refunds for service failures, I sometimes wonder if its cheaper to always get overnight shipping. Given that the shipping companies universally suck and routinely miss their service targets, the refunds may actually balance out to be cheaper than ground shipping on a long term basis.

I just received it a couple mins ago actually. They must have sent another truck. Problem solved I guess, though it still doesn't excuse their original stupidity.

How were they stupid?

Did they go on line and cry like a baby in fear that their package won't show up in time because they don't understand how shipping works?

They don't do one package one truck and send it straight to your home. All express packages are sent to the central hub. From the hub they are then directed out to the desired destination.

Edit to add:

That's how FedEx has worked for the last 30-40 years. If you don't know that, it doesn't mean they are stupid.
