I have to return an item that was shipped via fedex to me, I just assume use the same packaging... anyone know if it's alright if I use the fedex packaging it came in to ship through USPS?

It feels like it would be like shipping an incendiary device... you just don't do it.

is it just frowned upon?

Slightly off topic: a USPS Priority Mail box is strictly for use with USPS, and only for their Priority Mail service. I once tried re-using a used Priority Mail box (turned inside-out) for USPS First Class. The destination post office decided to return the shipment to me, due to the Priority Mail box not being in accordance with USPS rules.

Have to cover the fed-ex labels at the minimum for ethical reasons. It's going to depend on the person holding on your package if they're pissed off enough to return it back to you.

Protip: If you don't have a box or want to reuse boxes, like the priority mail box, use something to cover it up. You can cut out a brown paper grocery bag and use that over it. Works every time for me in the past.

I don't see why you can't ship it in that same box. Heck, you shouldn't even have to remove the FedEx labels since it's not like USPS can actually accidentally use them. When I ship via UPS using a box that was shipped to me through UPS, I typically remove the labels (or they place the new ones on top of the old ones).

It wouldn't be too wise to give the USPS a reason to send a package back. I can easily imagine a clerk taking a quick glance at a package and sending it back because he/she saw just the FedEx label.

Actually USPS has told me they use fedex for a lot of their shipping needs, and that they accept all boxes you can order from fedex.com.

Don't be a douche about it. Postal works = armed and dangerous if popular culture is to be believed.

I flip the box inside out if I can and just tape it up. If it's a USPS Box, I will wrap in paper since they have identification on the inside cardboard as well (but I haven't had to do this in awhile).

Make sure you wrap it nicely and tape it down securely so the paper isn't lose.
