fedex ground vs ups ground

I would say this all depends on where you live, where it's coming from and where the closest facility is to you.

I usually get my FedEx packages quickly because I'm in Nashville (Memphis is pretty close).

Although a few weeks ago It took 1 Day to get a UPS Ground package from Amazon.com.

It just depends.

It really depends. FedEx Ground cannot deliver in my area (Morningside Heights, New York City, NY). They are batting right now 0% for orders I placed recently, all of which were returned to sender after only 1 delivery attempt. FedEx policy is 3 attempts and then holding for 10 days, yet these Ground goofballs don't bother with it.

Contractors or not, they all deserved to be fired, IMHO.

So my vote is UPS.

I had packages held by FedEx, so they wouldn't be delivery on the 2nd day, for which they'd charge much more. UPS doesn't care. For cross-country, FedEx is usually faster.

Fed-Ex is cheaper and seems faster for me.
That and look at all the complaints newegg.com has gotton now that they ship first with UPS.

Part of that can be attributed to people being used to problems with FedEx and so do not report as many.

I've had most of my packages sent UPS. Cross-country trip takes 7 days (Monday to next Monday) most of the time, which IMO is too long for a package to arrive 🙁. But packages always came. I haven't really had Fedex ship cross-country so I can't really compare.

Whoa whoa,

Slow down, guys.

FedEx GROUND is a very different critter compared to FedEx EXPRESS. FedEx Ground mostly uses independent contractors to deliver packages. There is a potential for inconsistent quality. These poor guys own their own trucks; they don't get FedEx benefits, and they have to maximize their productivity.

AFAIK, UPS use the same drivers/trucks to deliver both overnight and ground stuff, and the quality is more consistent, for better or worse.

Two recent orders for the same build - placed on the same day within 5 minutes of each other.

NewEgg - UPS 3-Day, $22, arrived on the third day in excellent shape, left on back porch as requested by note.

ClubIT - FedexSaver, Free, arrived on the fifth day in excellent shape, left on back porch as requested by note.

Only real difference I saw was the tracking on the UPS site is updated much more often and timely than the Fedex tracking. Then again, the Fedex was free.
