Fedex Ground is significanly cheaper than UPS Ground and USPS Priority?

I know everyone has gripes with all these companies, but I don't really notice one company being significantly better than the other. I have had some problems and a lot of succesful deliveries with all these companies.

But, when I wanted to send a 3.75 lb package from CA to NY with $300 insurance, I got these rates:

Fedex Ground: $6.24
UPS Ground: $9.61 (over $15 at Mailboxes Etc.!!)
Parcel Post w/DC: $12.62
USPS Priority w/DC: $15.00

Not to mention that I would have to pay another $1.35 for Signature Confirmation w/ USPS. Did everyone know this? Just wondering since I don't see people sending with Fedex Ground very often... I guess Priority would be a bit faster...

Oops, I forgot to add the clincher: The line at UPS counter is always out the door, while at the Fedex counter the lady was just sitting there twiddling her thumbs!

FedEx Ground can be a bit below the rest. Not always but enough to merit notice.

Those Mailboxes Etc. places are rip-offs. They take the standard rates and tack on like $5 a package.

UPS should be $6.19.

I'm surprised USPS was so expensive. Everything I send priority mail is dirt cheap. Maybe it's the insurance.

Hmm. yeah that's right to FL, Fedex Ground to FL is $7.37 online as well, although the actual Fedex counter charged me less than what they said online, which was a nice change of pace.

I guess they are about the same. Well I'll see how fast the package gets there

Yeah insurance for $300 was $4.20 all by itself. But after reading some horror stories in FS/FT, anything that's over $100 get insurance from now on
