I came into work today for one thing... I needed to receive a package so I could finish a project and get my weekend started. I checked the tracking number and sure enough, it's on a fedex vehicle for delivery. Cool. It gets to be the usual delivery time and no FedEx truck. Ok... holiday weekend... might be busy... I'll give them another half hour.

In the mean time I checked the tracking number again. The package is still on the truck for delivery but the delivery date says July 5. Hmm... So I called FedEx to see what that means. Is it on the truck or is it being delivered on Tuesday? They call the local distribution center but nobody answers so they leave a voice mail. I let a half hour go by and call them back. Dude calls the main office on Oahu and tells me that the package is NOT on the truck and that it's scheduled to be delivered on the 5th. Oh, and the DC on Maui is now closed for the weekend 20 minutes ago so I can't just go down there and pick it up.

What... The... F***? Why are you telling me my package is on a truck if IT'S NOT ON THE TRUCK?

So basically I wasted my entire day (should have been a day off) not to mention the time of two other people I had scheduled to help on this project, waiting for a package that wasn't actually coming because FedEx can't get their shit together.

I always call when it's something important. Phone and real person is much more powerful than some website.

Yup. Talking to real people works magic. They are pulling a truck off the street and back to the sort facility to pick up my package and deliver it to me. Of course, now I have to work tomorrow.

cool story bro

should have had it shipped to your house

That wasn't an option. Anyway, what difference would it make? The package wasn't on the truck.

From my experience UPS is the best here. FedEx is too expensive and too slow, not to mention they both treat your packages like shit. UPS also seems to be the best when it comes to tracking. So why go for FedEx?

That is who my vendor uses. I don't have a choice.

what'd you get shipped? And I guess Maui is developed enough to not hide behind the "island time" excuse?

A video extender for a client who is returning on Monday.

Thats why it did not come today, its coming tuesday

But it was on a truck for delivery............ Had I known it was, in fact, not actually on a truck for delivery I could have picked it up at the sorting center.

As it is, they just dropped it off and I'm going home.

This just happened to me today. I live in Davis, CA which is about 15 minutes away from Sacramento, CA. This morning, FedEx's website says the package is on the vehicle for delivery in Sacramento. Alright, cool. I then get an e-mail saying there was a delivery exception: delivery attempted at 2:00 PM but there was no one at the location to sign for it. I was sitting on the couch about 5 feet from the door at that time and no one rang the doorbell or knocked. I look more closely at the tracking information and it says delivery was attempted in Sacramento, not Davis. Wtf?
