federal employees make more for the same job than private

I don't think you know what non sequitur means. You're not summarizing the article correctly at all. You're cherry-picking at best.

It's Latin for "does not follow". It doesn't follow that because federal workers get compensated 2% more on average that it amounts to a "redistribution of wealth" and that their wages need to be cut to "redistribute" wealth back to other people.

You're right, the 2% was without the pension benefits, and they get 16% more when pension is included.

2% is nothing. That's a tiny fraction of the COLA difference between even two big cities. And people with a "professional degree" earn 23% less. What is your plan to deal with that discrepancy?

Here's the full sentence:

The average federal worker earns about 2 percent more than a private sector worker in a comparable profession, though the government's generous pension system means that overall compensation is significantly higher, a government study released Monday said.

Stop cherry-picking.

And that has very little to do with federal wages/salaries. Look at where the money goes.

it has to do with their job though does it not? if a company starts failing it fails. well they used too. the government cannot manage a budget and it is beyond over reached. why should we continue to pay tjem when they continue to fail? sucks a little guy might be out of a job but so? that doesn't matter. if it wss my job being cut I would still recommend it.

What do federal workers have to do with the federal budget? I think you're confusing Congress with the civil service.

What if there was a private corporation and it became so big that it effectively became the government. Would it be OK then for the private employees of the private corporation that is now the government get paid more than other private sector employees?
