Aww poor California. The tax payers voted against giving more money to the State, but California can't quite cut any government programs. Its broke and now its asking for assistance from the Federal government to keep its bloated big government lifestyle. Its so adorable. Its like a child asking mommy for money after he blew all of his money on candy.
Except this child pays room and board. In 2003, Californians sent $50 billion more to Washington in federal taxes than the state received in federal expenditures. On the other hand your state, S.Carolina get $1.36 back from the Feds for every dollar it pays in. Without states like CA where would the Fed get the money to give to you free loaders?

The state is a mafia. It doesn't matter what name or location it is.

And good, welfare for states is just sad. It doesn't show how prosperous one state can get, but how well they can spend another state's money. But its just funny to see California begging for scraps. Until I realize how pathetic it looks. Just balance your damn budget.
This coming from someone who lives in Dogpatch that wouldn't have running water if it weren't for taxes from states like CA and in N.E.

I'd expect an epic failure from the state of sc. Its been a welfare state for quite a while. Then again, they've made cuts in education, health and services, mental health, social services, etc and are balancing their budget. Spending beyond one's means is exactly how the US got in the mess its in. I'm sorry that message doesn't coincide with feel good socialism.

Ah well.... there is an up side and down side to all this 7b borrowing. The Feds don't have to provide for this sort term need and by so doing will not receive the tax revenue associated with that and the trickle down or up affect it will cause.. probably more that the 7b loan... heheheheh and the up side is that if the Feds do lend it then States like N. Carolina etc will be able to enjoy continued Fed spending in their state or have the Feds just increase the Debt a bit to do so and our friends in Texas will be able to share in the owing of that Federal Debt and so on and so forth...

I'd not go hat in hand to the Frogs in DC.. or Dallas I'd simply let the chips fall where they may.. but then I'm a fiscal maverick. I don't care bout no teachers or fire people... we need to care for the poor and indigent first.. like Jesus said. We need 7b to feed the poor... Come now collection plates rattle the sound of coin dropping for the cause... Maybe the Catholic Church might sell off a candle holder or two.. that'd help, No?
