Fed EX vs. USPS: which is better?

ive been shipping all my packages for 3 years thru USPS.Priority was both cheap and reliable for a long time.Lately,it has become more costly to ship via priority....
I havent shipped with FED EX but have recieved quite a bit via fed ex and was very pleased.
how are fed ex rates vs. priority etc.

USPS is starting to use fedex for a lot of stuff.

fedex 3 day is good and pretty inexpensive.

Fedex. ~9lb Fedex Ground to CA (FL to Newegg..) was about 8 bucks..USPS Priority was $17. Of course it took about a week to get there..but 2-3 day Fedex would probably have been cheaper as well. Fedex also has $100 worth of insurance by default, and provides a free tracking number (so does USPS Priority, but I prefer Fedex tracking over USPS delivery confirmation). Also, Fedex has signature confirmation...USPS is what, $1.50 extra?

UPS is better at beating up packages.
Ck out FedEx super saver rates (I think that's what it's called)--it's a 3 day send.

I shipped a 19" LCD from NYC to San Fran via ground for ~$20. UPS and USPS was trying to charge me ~$60. So for larger, heavier items, I go with FedEx. For small items, I stick with USPS simply because it's more convenient for me to go there.

It depends on what you want shipped.

USPS - Best for legal documents, anything in an envelope, media mail, very small items.
FedEx - Everything else and their international is pricey but it gets there ON TIME.

FedEx. You NEVER want to make an insurance claim with USPS. It'll take a year, literally. I only use USPS for Media Rate for DVDS, Tapes, etc.

Actually, they've used them for quite awhile now. They ship a lot of the USPS Priority Mail. USPS doesn't have it's own planes. FedEx does.

USPS hits you real hard in the pocket if you want to get insurance. If you are shipping anything valuable, go with Fed Ex.

UPS beats up, stomps, or drives over my boxes ... because they always come out looking pretty trashed. one time i got an empty envelope that looked like it had literally been driven over. there were tire marks (no not that kind) on it.

also UPS leaves expensive packages on my doorstep. they left a digital camera there once. my housemate (LAWRENCE WOO) had a couple of laptops left on on doorstep also. this is NOT good since we live on a street almost right next to campus. everyone and their mother walks by our house.

i had a lot of faith in USPS until recently, when someone from half.com sent me the rocky dvd set. granted that the person did a really crappy job packaging it (larger box, with just crumpled newspaper padding), the box looked like it had been speared by something. one entire corner of the box was dented way in and the dvd box case was bent in. nothing major that broke the dvds and nothing too major to ask for a return, but annoying nonetheless.

fedex ground ... they're okay. i think they've stomped on a couple things too.

have had great experience with airborne express. heard they're expensive though. i did all my Dell RMA stuff through them though (paid for by Dell).

my final conclusion? if money were not an issue, airborne express. however, i do USPS 'cause its convenient.

edit: LAWRENCE WOO (HELLPINGPEEPOLE) IS GHEY

never had problems w/ fedex.....they're pretty dang convenience i say.... ..set up an account...drop off package @ drop off locations...(well, convenient for me cuz i'm near one)

I have use a FedEx Ground a lot. No complaint here.
There has been two misrouted package out of hundreds, pretty good track so far.
I've also use UPS in the past. They are ok, but I don't like their double box policy.
MBE are crooks and thieves. My fault for being lazy and innocent when I first ship things.
Staples UPS rates is pretty good and you can use $10 off $40 coupon and no double boxing.
USPS is ok until they raised their Priority Mail rates (just plain nuts now)

So I guess I'll stick with FedEx for now.
