Fed-Ex Misdelivered My Package - Recourse?

So I ordered a case a bit more than two weeks ago from Case-Mod after seeing someone recommend them here. Well, wouldn't you know it, with my luck, my very first order with Case-Mod and FedEx not only delivered the item late, they delivered it to the wrong address (It was 5-day ground shipping). The FedEx tracker website says that it was delivered and signed for last week. It wasn't me who signed for it since I was at my house all of last week and the delivery address was my dorm. It also wasn't anyone in the dorm mailroom since the signature name isn't anyone who works there, at least no one I'm familiar with. God only knows who has my case right now...

What can I do about this? Complain to Case-Mod, FedEx, or my credit card company?

Ugh, what a hassle. I'll be sticking to etailers that use 2 or 3 day shipping from now on...

Start with Case-Mod. If they are a good company, they will deal with Fedex for you, and work with you to get you your case.

Call case-mod, ask them what address they had for the order, if they got it right, then call Fed Ex and complain. They should refund the shipping cost.

Common sense? 😕

Call the distribution office and talk to the supervisor.
Dont even bother with the CSR.
Bitch them out.
they'll have it to you next day.

wtf dorm do you live in?

p.s.: start with case-mod, ultimately it's their responsibility that you get what you ordered... perhaps fedex offers them some kind of insurance, but dunno anything about that.

Refunding the shipping cost isn't going to do me much good...the shipping fee was only about $10, the case on the other hand was worth quite a bit more than that. If they could track down where the box actually got delivered to though, that would be pretty helpful.

Start with the seller, it's Fedex's policy to deliver to an address not a person or SPECIFIC location. Meaning if someone walks by your house, fedex can deliver to that person. I ran into the same thing about 5 years ago and Fedex did nothing. I had to get Newegg to fight with them.

In this order, stop when one works:
Find out who in your dorm stole your case.
Call Case-Mod and Fedex (in that order) to see if either will be willing to help you with your plight.
Call your CC provider to dispute the charge on the basis that you never took delivery of the product.

I agree. Talk to the seller and tell them that you never received it. They can then do the research to find out who signed for your package. It's their responsibility to insure those packages...chances are, if they can't find it by dealing with FedEx, they may just ship you another one.

I've had worse. I typed my dorm address which I used to ship things to for the HL2 collectors edition @ buy.com for only $25. this was during the summer so the dorms were closed and shipment was rejected immediately. They shipped it back to Buy.com IMMEDIATELY before I could even get buy.com to respond via e-mail. I missed out on the deal because they refused to ship out another copy and blah blah and I was forced to buy HL2 for $19.99 but w/ no collectors edition.

When I moved to my new address, I called the local UPS and Fedex hubs and put a specific order in to hold ANY item that is to be delivered to my address. They notify me and I go to the hub and get it. Never an issue since. It's kind of a PIA but here things seem to disappear quite often. I thought it was a bad neighborhood but after further discussion with the local rep, he said they have many driver issues and it's REALLY hard to get rid of them.

No one at my dorm swiped the box if that's what you're implying. We get package slips from the mailroom put into our mailboxes whenever we have a waiting package. You would need 1) the key to my specific mailbox to take the slip out, and 2) my student ID along with the package slip to show to the mailroom employee to withdraw the package.

It's highly unlikely someone in the mailroom took it either. I've received dozens of packages, some of them worth a fair amount, without problems. Plus, a case isn't exactly something that's easy to sneak out without someone noticing. Although, in the off chance that that did happen, I'd be pretty amused if they took it thinking it was a TV from the shape of the box (I bought a QPack), and when they got it home, they found out it was an empty computer case.

It's probably more likely that they delivered to some house with a similar address and the person who signed for it decided to keep it.

Let me clarify: get your case back from whoever the hell took it AND a refund for the shipping. 😀

If the person opened it up and used/damaged it, then well, case-mod should give you a new one.
