Tbh I don't have to do that either and am married. We don't often get each anything and my wife thinks it's absurd how much flowers and cards cost.

But if it makes you feel better you can rummage around in Wal-Mart for something for me

I went on Costco.com and ordered a spinning exercise bike for the wife. No running here. Just pedaling.

Meh, the wife got mad years ago when I bought her flowers. Thank God she dislikes Valentine's Day.

Thankfully, me and the wife agreed that Valentines day is a stupid gimmick to overspend at crowded restaurants or buy overpriced items (Flowers for $50, Jewelry, etc..)

Instead, we just have a tradition of having a home-cooked meal along with chocolate fondue every year. Oh and also PIITB

Tonight my wife and I are going to probably East Side Marios or Boston Pizza for heart shaped pizza, then to a Yuk Yuk's show. We have odd traditions, but this is borne from a particularly important v-day for us. We used to not do anything. And now we do. And life is great.

And Feb 15 is "all chocolates are on sale" day. :D
I was going to post that.

But actually the best time just after Christmas. Huge sales on Xmas chocolates. Plus as you know in Canada, great sales on everything for Boxing Week.

Anyhoo, personally I hate St. Valentine's Day. It seems so fake. But I still partake. My wife expects to receive something on Valentine's Day, so I oblige. It's worth the roughly US$50 for the card, chocolates, and flowers for the domestic peace.

My wife and I went to eat last night for Valentines day with our son as well, so that we would miss the crowds and the "special" Valentines Day menus. It was a nice dinner.

My wife and I went to eat last week. And I made her some frames for some pics of the kids she wanted to frame. She is all smiles and this "holiday" cost me nearly nothing.

Arrival is out on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD today. It's a sci-fi flick that is more girl-friendly than usual for a sci-fi flick.

did you work on the movie or something? I've never seen anyone so emphatically obsessed with a film ever.

No connection to the movie industry whatsoever... although I did rent out my house for a TV commercial recently. Good money BTW.

However, I really like the movie, and I suspect they released it on Valentine's Day on purpose.

While I love this movie, there are a couple I am even more obsessed with. Probably number one is Tampopo, which will finally see a decent disc release this year, as a Criterion release. This is a must buy for me:

Not in time for Valentine's Day, but maybe in time for my birthday this spring. ;)

Where are you all buying flowers for only $50. I spent $85 for a dozen red roses for the wife yesterday at the local florist.

My wife doesn't care about Valentine's Day but since we've been married, I have always given her some expensive jewelry. It's a combo gift for Valentine's and our anniversary (March). The reason for jewelry is because she's a very frugal person when it comes to that kind of stuff. All she had was stuff from Marshall's, TJ Max, etc.. and anything that was a gift. Also, I never gave her jewelry as a gift when we were boyfriend/girlfriend. The only jewelry she'd get at that point was an engagement ring making her my fiance.
