Febreze - does it really work?

No Lifer
I've been spraying this stuff everywhere. I know there is no substitute for getting rid of the source of the odor but for fabrics and other things once it's in there it's difficult to clean.

So does it really eliminate odor? There's a stale funk in my house and only professional cleaning will get rid of it from the carpet/furniture.

i got sick of the febreeze smell after I used it for awhile. I now associate febreeze w/ bad odor now as well. 🙁

According to the MSDS it contains water, alcohol, odor eliminator derived from corn, fragrance. Hrmm....

But I thought it contained special odor absorbing molecules to wisk away the odor to somewhere else. 🙁

It does, creamed corn! 😛

I listen to Handyman shows on AM radio on the weekends as I do stuff around the house. Lately one of my favorites, Glenn Haege, has been touting this stuff called Fresh Wave saying it has more active ingredients. I haven't tried it, but this guy has never steered me wrong yet.

I love the smell of Febreeze.

Febreeze has a new "seasonal" scent that is great... although not in the non-aerosol spray.
I cannot really say one way or another if it works or not, but I do like the one with the allergen reducer.

Well, here's my take.........

It *does* smell good...BUT...

I think we've all been bamboozled by yet another "new" product. In fact, it's just another air freshener.

If you want to clean surfaces, use a cleaner (bleach or whatever).

If you want to clean the air, filter it.

If you want to cover one smell with another smell.......febreze it.

I use febreeze in my car for whenever some asshole smokes in it. kills the scent.

What's wrong with you that you can't tell them not to fucking smoke in your car?

I'd buy the generic stuff. Bigger bottle for about 1/4 the cost. Probably doesn't work quite as well, but either way its only a temporary thing anyways so not like I care.

most people don't, it's just my parents smoke and occasionally they drive my car. That and I have a few friends that smoke, and every now and then they light one up without thinking and without me noticing.

I can't imagine being so filthy that instead of just cleaning things like a normal human being I resorted to spraying something to cover the product of that filthiness (the stench). That's like taking a steaming shit in the middle of your carpet, spraying it with cologne, and pretending it's no longer there.

It's your car, tell the asshole to smoke somewhere else.
