Fear of random waves

Do you ever get waved at in the street and not recognise the person who is waving. This happens to me sometimes and although I know it is one of the wifes friends or coworkers or something I can't place them and end up having a really awkward conversation where I ask leading questions looking for random facts to try and work out who they are.

Yes! Sometime I just wave at someone too. I have a very poor memory for names. I wouldn't call it a fear.

I wave at random people all the time. Less than half wave back, the rest look at you with a "who the fuck are you" look on their face.

I do this a lot.
 
LOL. This was a legit fear I had years ago when I couldn't see very well and didn't want to wear glasses/couldn't afford contacts.

People would wave or call out my name but I couldn't really tell who it was, especially in a crowded bar, etc. I looked/felt like an asshole but I just had to ignore them because I didn't know what else to do.

Now I ignore people because I really am an asshole. At least I can see who I'm ignoring these days.
