the news-media is being extremely filtered right now... they are being told not to show certain things, such as this big flap over putting our soldiers in harm's way by detailing their locations on the news, etc... but, look at that from the other side as well... considering the news is as filtered as it is right now, the fact that they are airing such questions as you mentioned, means the government wants you to know about that subject. it's sort of an indirect warning of sorts, because if the government didn't want you to know about it, it wouldn't be on the news. period. not in a time of war.
so if they showed you a story or an interview dealing with anthrax having possibly been sent to other people who don't even know it, it's because they want you to know about it without actually saying it.
the best place to get news in times like this is not on tv. tv news is filtered by the government right now, and furthermore, the tv news networks are all owned by corporations.. they have their own interests, and a bottom-line to worry about. look for other good sources on the net, for news that doesn't come through corporate/governmental filters, and news that airs not just our persepctive, but varying perspectives from all over the world... for startes, take a look at
www.alternet.org and
www.globalissues.com. if the info on globalissues frightens you, or shocks your mtv-generation sensibilities, remember that that website is run by a guy who is just a guy, living in india... not a cnn reporter... he's done a lot of research on what he's talking about on his site, and he's not sponsored by or working for any corporation. suddenly, the news stories are all different in subtle and not-so-subtle ways...
