Fear me! (Blame Logix)

I guess I've been a "passive SETI searcher". I've been running the gui client for about 2 years and was happy with the results.😱 I jumped ship to TA from The Planetary Society yesterday and ya'll have excited me already about the project again. I guess I had lost my original enthusiasm for SETI.🙁

Logix turned me on to the command-line version (which I didn't know existed). Estimated processing time has been cut from ~20hrs to ~7hrs.:Q

I now have three 1GHz+ systems running command-line version.😀

Thanks guys for the shot in the arm!

It's all my fault! :Q

Actually, I used the GUI client for about a year myself, often with all the fancy graphics displayed, while it was trying to crunch work units. (It looks cool!)

I didn't start using the CLI client until I joined TeAm AnandTech myself and read some of the help threads here. So, I'm just returning the favor, so to speak. 🙂

And, if you aren't using it already, I'd recommend using the CLI client with Seti Driver. It lets you cache work units locally on your hard drive in case your internet connection goes down, or the Berkeley servers go down. There should be some info on setting it up in Sukhoi's Seti Help Thread.

Glad to hear everything's working out! 😀

I also have three PIII 1GHz systems that are averaging 10.2 WUs @ day but all three computers are being used for worthless applications. I wish they would just stick to the important stuff like SETI. 😉

The slower the computer, the greater the difference.

I went from 30hrs to 9hrs on our Athy 700
