FEAR Extraction Point released yesterday 10/25

So i just picked it up last night, after a somewhat retarded time. On the frys add it said they would have it on 10\25 by noon. So i go in after work, i get there a little after five, and cant find it on the shelves, so i ask at the video game podium thingy. Lady says that it's not on the shelves as they havent counted it yet. So i add that the add said by noon and it is after 5pm, surely i could get a copy right, wrong.
So i ask her how long it will be, and she dosent really help me much, just says that she dosent know. At this point i'm like, wtf, since people are asking for this product(i was by far not the only one, people had been asking all day) you guys should be counting this first and getting it out so we can go home with our fresh copy of fear, not trying to send us home empty handed. She says she cant help me and will not ask the (whoever is counting the stock) how much longer it will be. Long story short, i end up getting a copy after waiting about 25 mins, once a few customers started gathering they went to the back and got us some copys, but it was like pulling teeth, but at least i didn't have to go back.
Anyways, i've played it for about 45 mins now, and i'm happy with it, more of the FEAR i loved. What do you guys think.

Yeah, I really like it. If you like the first FEAR, you should really like Extraction Point. I got my copy last night too and it was kind of a pain for me to get too.

Got my copy last night at my local Best Buy ... ordered it online & picked it up an hour later with no hassles at all, plus it was on sale for $5 off.

Installed it last night too but havn't had a chance to play yet, I'll most likely start it tonight.

odd I haven't heard anything on this? Is this a expansion for Fear and do I need Fear to play it? Does it pickup where Fear left off?

Yes it is an expansion and yes you need the original game installed to play Extraction point. And yes, it does take up where FEAR left off.

Anyone know a cheap place to order this online? Gamestop is $30 plus tax/shipping. I was hoping not to pay close to $40 for an expansion pack.

at frys yesterday it was 23.99, the retail is 29.99 though. I'd check now close to release if you wanted it, will be a while before it drops again.

Great, I liked FEAR fairly well, played all the way through it a few times.

I was thinking that, but i didn't wanna be the guy who blew up over a game, and an EXPANSION no less. But when i heard that she was able to get one copy, you better believe i was gonna get mad if she told me she couldn't get me one then.

Well I just finished this last night (wasn't that long, I just don't have much time to game) & I have to say it just isn't very good compared to the original game. The story pretty much vanished & it felt to me more like a bunch of loosely connected levels then an actual continuation of the plot line... one minute Alma is on your side, the next she's attacking you again, combined with the ending it was pretty weak.

The graphics were admittedly a bit better, but performance suffered so much, particularly in outdoor scenes that it wasn't worth it IMO ... barely worth the $25.

I also finished it last night. More of the same but I like FEAR so that's fine. The story did seem to drift a little once you got halfway through, and my 6800 really struggled on the last 2 levels. I love the minigun and the game seemed to be a bit more messed up in the head than the first outing

Besides Beast Buy, you can get it where i got mine for $17 --Curseit City

unfortunately i am having troubles installing it

along with that buggy NWN2 i have had a run of bad luck gaming

i am gonna reinstall the OS again . . .

This game rocks! They did a great job with this, it's a lot of fun, and quite spooky. More so than the original.

It was made by TimeGate Studios, not Monolith, so I'm not sure if the plot developments are considered canon as such. People were debating that on the official forums...

I think the proper storyline will continue in F.E.A.R. 2, although it won't be called that as Vivendi still have the name rights, and Monolith are with WB now.

I finished Extraction Point last night, and while I was a fan of F.E.A.R., I really didn't like this much at all. It got boring quickly (for those that faulted the original for being repetitive, wait until you see this one), it didn't really add anything new that wasn't already done in the first game, and the storyline wasn't making much of any sense.

It's not BAD, its just not interesting either. I'd give it like a 5/10

weird problem

FEAR installed fine ... ran very smoothly on my newly installed O/S ... BUT

FEAR XP appears to install fine but doesn't launch

tried several installs and reinstalls ... same problem ... i am guessing that an install CD is defective
hopefully

i am playing NWN2 anyway .... now that is a resource hog.

Have you tried bypassing the launcher and running FEARXP.EXE directly? I read on the official forum there was a bug setting the URL and that would cause it to fail.

Also my friend had a problem starting the game that didn't get fixed til he updated his sound drivers.
