Ok, I jut bought an x1800xt 256mb, installed it, re-installed omega drivers.

Runs oblivion gloriouly (defualts on ultra high). Play NFS:MW, wow, plays smooth as a ribbon on absolute highest settings, then Call of duty 2, defaults on 'extra' runs great, then the real test; F.E.A.R.

I was so excited to finally truely experience this game, but those thoughts soon came to an end.

FEAR wouldn't even boot, just give me a blank screen, that I can easilly ctrl-alt-delete out of.

I've tried re-installing fear, using different dtivers, using driver cleaner, and reinstalling the omega drivers, and nothing.

and as a note, I played this game on an x300 with the exact same drivers, with no problems, besides having to run it on low.

Yea, I tried the latest catalyst drivers off of ati's website, notta, and it lowered my performance (made it default to medium on oblivion compared to ultra high).

Come on, someone has to know how to fix this :(.

It has something to do with my sound, when I disable it everything works, except, there is no sound (lol) and there is a shrill schreech coming from the inside of my comp. and I have no idea what it is.

Hey, I have exactly the same problem you do... I also have an Abit AN8 (the fatality version) I blame it on the motherboard, not the video card or anything else. The strangest thing is that if you disable the audio of the game though the config menu, it works perfectly... and if you leave it in the blank screen for about an hour or more, it suddenly starts and it works perfectly... It trully is a mistery, ive tried talking to someone at Abit, but they dont seem to know, they tell me to do an RMA...
