I recently formatted my IBM 40 GB 7200 RPM hardrive and when I went into Fdisk to set the partitions, it said that there was only 7011MB total disk space. This confused somewhat, is there something that I m may have missed??
Also I enabled large harddisk support.

How did you format it if you hadn't set the partitions?

Partition tables can get corrupted. Download the drive fitness tools from Hitachi (hgst.com) and erase the disk, then run fdisk again.

I assume your computer is somewhat recent. If it's too old, then the BIOS may not recognize the full size of the drive.

I apoligize for my mistake, I had set the partition at the maximum available size, then formatted it, when I ran Fdisk again to confirm everything was ok, It only showed 7011MB's total disk space.

I will download the ultilty you mentioned and post back. Thanx
