Fdisk + Formatting Q's

I was wondering if the lifespan of a hard drive is lessend to some degree if you fdisk and format it too many times? Is this true?

Reason im asking id cuz in the last 4 days i have done fdisk and reinstall of win98SE / Linux like 4 times. Everytime i screwed up with the partitioning in Linux etc

well

all hard drives are weakened as they are used over time

but it shouldsnt be any different than copying data onto a drive or something

all formatting is, is rewriting every sector of data on the drive

I've played around with my drives A LOT in the past. My 17.2gb drive has had the whole partition and add an OS thing done 25-30 times at least. It's still working fine. With all the stories about these IBM 45gb's crapping out for no apparent reason, I'm worried about my main drive though .

Don't forget the IBM GXP 30gb's - mine just went south after seven months. They're gonna RMA it though.
