F'd up keyboard

Ok, last night I was starting up some BF1942. While the game was loading I hit escape to skip the opening movies and it dropped out of BF1942 to the desktop, but BF was still open in the Task Bar. I try to alt-tab to it, I try to click on it, but no luck. I CTRL-ALT-DEL and end task it. Whew, finally out of it completely... Hey, what the!? My keyboard is acting like there is a key stuck down somewhere. I try pressing CTRL and SHIFT- the most common stuck buttons, but nothing happens. I press every button the keyboard, nothing. If I click on a shortcut, it brings up the properties for it, not the program it links to. If I try to deselect an Icon on the desk top, no luck. No Icons can be unselected.

Hmm, ok, this is pissing me off. I start taking keys off the keyboard and cleaning the inside... this isn't working either! Reset... boots up... still not working!? WTF!? Turn off computer, boots up.. still not working. Unplug keyboard, plug keyboard, unplug, plug, NO CHANGE.

Alright, I'm really getting pissed now. I uninstall Keyboard from device manager and restart.... no go. Ok, I'm so pissed now that I'm jumping around like a monkey and my wife is giggling at me. I turn off the computer and walk away for an hour or two to throw a tantrum. :disgust:

I come back to it around 9:19 and turn PC on. Oh hey look, I can type again, but WTF!? When I type "f" it makes it a capital "T"! When I type "i" it makes it a number "8"!? If I press capslock the light won't change. Its like all my keys on my keyboard are somehow re-arranged... How could this be? Some keys still work, but they are all in caps. I can't press "9", but all my other numbers are working. 😕

Moral of the story... there isn't one! But I am really pissed at BF1942. Now I'm going to have to steal a keyboard from work to help me try and figure out WHAT THE HELL is going on 🙁.

Maybe you hit the "change keyboard language/layout" combination of keys when you were getting pwned by the keyboard?

Confused

Did you take special note of the time so you could develop an alibi in case you killed the keyboard in a fit of rage?

Actually, I have no idea why I remember the time like that.. just one of those little things... ya'know?

Hmm, just got home with.. ahem.. 2 other keyboards. One is a Dell QuietKey and the other is just a generic no name.. Guess what? The generic works! The Dell QuietKey does not.. what the hell could be causing this? My Microsoft ergonomic and a Dell keyboard do not work, but this generic does!? What gives 😕

sometimes if you hold a button down too long it enables the handicapped accesability thing, sticky keys i think they are called.
perhaps this is the problem, but everytime its happened to me, a box has popped up saying sticky keys are enabled.

you have to press shift like 6 times

i think someone above mentioned it, the regional settings or something possibly might have gone whack.. but if only 1 keyboard out of 3 works, the port is obviously working, as is that one keyboard... WEIRD.

i just don't know 😛
