During my Freshman year at school, I took an English class focused on the tales of King Arthur. Instead of being taught by an English professor, it was taught by a Women's Studies professor who spent the entire semester focusing on gay rights in the tales of Arthur.

I just stopped reading after a while. I'm all for Gender studies...just not when I think I'm taking an English class.

slight update...the teacher mentioned she received a memo yesterday about complaints...her words were if the students didn't like her class 'they can get the F out now'. Her friend then asked if anyone would like to take it outside.

It's nuts.

Easy to think in hindsight, I am not sure if they haven't done just that though. It's just a matter of getting everyone to the dean...however; after today's outburst apparently things are moving forward quickly.

The teacher is apparently a relative of someone important at the school...I am only getting this info as I hear it.

My gf is in a women's studies class atm, and we all know how that can go. Lesbian teacher, of course, and the class focuses almost entirely on modern feminist thought. I think that is a class that should be taught, but it should be called, oh I don't know, "Modern Feminist Thought". This teacher doesn't sound nearly as bad as the one your friend's wife encountered, but is still combative and exudes the whole "well you just don't/wouldn't understand" type of attitude, directed at males and hetero/makeup girls. It seems painfully obvious that that sort of attitude has no place in an educational environment. I'm not sure why these kinds of attitudes get a free ride in this environment.

hindsight would have been for the 1st or 2nd issue, afterwards, would have been good to have. Anyways, it looks like if enough people complain maybe the problem will disappear.

This teacher has just royally screwed herself.
First there is the incident which the Dean has on file. The other student had every right to request a change in the subject matter. A far better response than getting in her face would have been a simple 'no'. But then again we are talking about dykes here.
Second is the entire rest of the class coming to complain to the Dean about the unfair grading in the class. When 1 or 2 students complain it can be chalked up to frustrated and/or poor students. When the majority of or the entire class complains its no longer a case of a whiny student. Something has happened here and something needs to be done.
Lastly will be the grades that are turned in. Class grades are supposed to resemble a bell curve. However, when your grades have a single student making 100% and the rest of the class at 60% or lower, and that 100% student is also the same student involved in said incident. It shows blatant favoritism. I'd be highly surprised if she's able to keep her job.

having attened 2 years of massage therapy school, the story is totally believable. i meet some real ass clowns at my school, nothing as extreme as what the OP related but if the school didn't have strict policies on the matter i could see how a situation like this can arise.

What the hell do you mean hindsight?????? If it only happened the first time it would be hindsight, you're saying it happens every class. If the teacher and her pet are spouting off every class record it. And mention to the Dean the sexual harassment lawsuit his school will now be part of.

It's happened since the week before LAST.

It's being handled though...when only one person went forward the dean wasn't so interested when the class is now involved it's a lot different. There was also a report filed against the chick that was physically threatening people.

I love how geeks here think like James Bond and then expect the average person to do that. idiots.

hehe...probably not as best case scenario these women will more than likely just be able to pass the class with a new teacher or one that is explained the rules. Lot's of lost time and stress for all involved and AFAIK no one is going to sue over it UNLESS they don't correct it. As of yesterday there was an official letter sent in to the schools administration as well as a report made against the student making open threats.

Don't know the real outcome of it yet. It was Thanksgiving BTW today so I wasn't really online here. Anyway my boss is on vacation but the last of it was the police were contacted on the threats and the dean is handling the situation.

Still I have no idea what the outcome is on something like this but a loss for the students.
