I think that would be the best case scenario. Unfortunately there are people who are too politically powerful so they really are above the law, Nixon case in point. For the same reason Nixon was pardoned, if charges are brought Hillary should be pardoned as well. It would end her politically career but would allow the country to move on.

It wouldn't end her career at all. Anyone with a brain who isn't a partisan hack can see what these email investigations really are, political tools to defeat a political opponent. The country would indeed move on because the political tool the repubs have been using for four years would be gone.

If he wanted to play politics, he could have easily recommended charges last month. He chose not to. Obviously they've found something significant that made them want to take a closer look again.

1.) There was nothing to recommend, but he chose to hold a conference to give his personal views which isn't his job.
2.) There wasn't anything significant. Just listened to a reporter with a source in the FBI. The gist, The FBI doesn not believe it's a big deal. So, again, my question, why would Comey release this letter now.

I mean he is pandering to the right trying to prove impartiality to people for whom impartiality is their political opponents in jail. It's highly unusual for FBI to update politicians about ongoing investigations. But he opened the door on it with his previous statements, and now he has to keep doing it.

My understanding is a President basically carries immunity unless impeached.

Actually this will probably blow over. Clinton supporters do not care.

Why should they? In the whole lesser-of-two-evils contest that is our Presidential election, there seems to be no fault of Hillary's that Trump doesn't also have and in spades. Hillary hid some emails, Trump hides all of his financial entanglements.

I'm pretty sure the market has strongly priced in a Trump loss. In fact, if you look at market activity it suggests that the markets fear what a Trump presidency would do.

What I find odd about all this is that several days ago trump was giving a speech in which he stated, as usual, how crooked Hillary is, but then he added, "just today they found two boxes of emails".

So who is leaking this info to him? The non partisan (lol) Benghazi commission?
