one of the first games where I learned to farm and grind. There was these two screens you could go back forth through killing the same mobs and get coins.

It was a good game. Spend every last penny at the beginning and the king gives you more.

Not sure it's most underrated though. Aside from the already mentioned Guardian Legend and Battle of Olympus, you've got games like Willow and Crystalis. Lots of oldies but goodies.

I LOVED Fanxandu as a kid. And, yeah, I probably liked it better than the NES Castlevania games. I think I'd still take Metroid though, but I enjoyed both greatly.

I think I have that in my boxes of NES games that I buy when I see them at garage sales. Never played it though.

Crystalis NES was an extremely underated game with an assload of grindfest to get by in the game.

Crystalis > Faxanadu imo.

I remem I loved that game for the NES. ~20yrs ago since I played it tho. I do remember the shops and buying cool swords and other stuff. Pretty sure I beat it.

I can agree with that.

Crystalis was fantastic. One of those games I discovered only after the NES had gone the way of the dodo.
