My company just got a spam fax for reconsolidating your home or something. Mind you we aren't a very large company at all so it was surprising. Is this a new thing? or has it been out for a while now?

Fax spamming has been around for many years. Probably before email spam. Everyday we get a few. Usually about travel deals.

It's also illegal if I remember correctly. Something about how printing it uses paper and effectively costs the recipient money. Legally they're supposed to call you prior to sending it and ask if you'll accept the transmission.

Call the people up and inform them your company's legal department is considering a lawsuit if they send any more. Should stop them. (Unless I'm wrong about it being illegal)

Google for info on the TCPA. You can sue these aholes for $500 per fax.

All I get is stuff on the Trusted Computing Platform? Didn't dig too deep though.

Personally, I've been saving all our junk faxes and am going to mail them to FaxWars. As far as I can tell, they're legit, so if it works out, we'll be up a couple hundred dollars, worst case, we're out a couple of stamps.

EDIT: nevermind, I see the info you meant in the google results...

We've been getting the same fax.

I called them and told them to KNOCK IT OFF!

Telephone Consumer Protection Act. It deals with junk faxes as well. :)
