Fax on PC?

Is there a way to send and receive a fax using your PC modem without connection online or spending money buying new hardware?

Simple and easy progams or any ideas could be appreciated.

Yep modem and Windows XP Start menu Printer and Faxes it will install some stuff off you XP disc then your good to go, I use it have about 200 companys names and fax #'s in a address book so I can MAS Fax my Resume to them every few months.

WinFAX Pro 10 should work for your everyday needs but beware that it is a memory resource hog. WinFAX allows you to fax from the scanner if you have one, scheduled fax send, automatic recieve, will notify your pager or cell if fax recieved a fax message. But it is not cheap. I got it from computer show for 25 buck.
I don't know about freeware fax programs.

Most modems have had built in fax capability for the past 10 years.
It is the S/W to interface with the H/W that has not seemed to be easly available for free.

Most aftermarket modems usually came with a low end S/W package that included some telecom and Fax S/W.

I found this thing called mighty fax. Im sticking with it. A great bang for buck. Basically will do anything for me.
