Fax / DSL solutions ??

I have Sprint/EL DSL service, with a Linksys 4-port router and an extra hub.
I keep a 54Kbps modem in one of the 5 machines connected to
the router, so I can use services that require dial-in.
However, I don't like to leave my computer on all day when
I'm not around, and the dial-up modem is on my normal voice
line. The DSL is on a second line, distinct from my default
voice line.

Lately, I've been getting a lot of large faxes at our local
office. Unfortunately, I work out of my home, 1.5 miles
away, and it is getting to be a pain to trot down to the
office, only to discover the fax is out of paper, and that
there are 5 ticked-off people waiting for my faxes to end.

I'm considering purchase of a Fax-copier, along the lines of
the Brother MFC-6800 (or better); I'd like to put it on the
same line as the DSL, replacing the one phone currently on
that line.

Some questions:

Is this a reasonable thing? Will the DSL and fax pleasantly
cohabit? Is there a better standalone fax system -- or one
that can store the faxes electronically, to be downloaded
later?

Is there a better solution -- like a reasonably-priced,
spam-free fax-through-e-mail internet service? I tried one
of the "free" fax services years back, and found there were
too many gotchas. I'm hopeful that these services are
now better evolved.

Thanks...

Well I can answer you on the "Will it work fine on the DSL Line" question.. it should be fully functional on the DSL as long as you install the DSL line filter before the actual fax device. I am not sure if you had it on your phone but definatly use it for the fax.
