Favorite Way Intel Sucks?

Mine is the fact that every new processor they have released since the original PII has has some sort of design flaw in it. I won't even mention the fact that AMD kills them in performace with CPU's with the same clock speed. Wait...I just did mention it. Oh well....guess those are my 2 favorite ways Intel sucks!

I don't think Intel sucks. I have owned a Amd k6-2 (which sucked BTW), a P3 650@866 and now a Duron.
I just buy which has the best price/performance ratio. I really don't care which brand is it.

Price and only price. Why are people so hard-up against one chip maker or the other? Both are fantastic chips, one just costs a lot more.

i go for whatever has the better price😛erformance. i like intel's chipset's better, but amd's cost and performance can't be missed 🙂

i have owned several intel chips and personally havent had any problems with them. The price and availability was the only reason why i am currently using an AMD cpu. Other than that, for my purposes i rate the 2 products as equals

Price. I upgrade when I can get a 50%, or better, bump in speed for $350 or less. Intel hasn't been able to fit within those guidelines for over 10 years.

Why is it that you feel the need to bash Intel products? It gets you nowhere....

In what way have their processors been flawed since the Pentium II? Leave the Pentium 4 out of this argument for the moment, and focus on the other CPUs. That leaves the Katmai Pentium III, the Coppermine Pentium III and the various Celerons.

Intel simply makes public some of the "errata" affecting their CPUs. It's entirely possible, and 100% likely that there are errata affecting AMD CPUs as well. No processor is perfect, and Intel does the right thing by documenting these problems and offering workarounds either in the BIOS, OS, or fixing it in the next stepping produced.

When was the last time ANY of these errata materially affected you?

Please explain any design flaws that you feel are significant.

My wife's 1GHZ P3 cost $600.00 and would not run below 48c. Returned it got another that ran at 48c. Bought Alpha and new case with two 120mm fans and still runs at 38c (but at least it does crash any more). Here's the real kicker, my T-Bird 750@1050 with an alpha in a cheap case kicks this chips ass. No one has to tell me the BS about how great Intel is, I know from a very expensive mistake which chip is the best.

The people who have to bash the other company, are insecure about their own purchasing decision. That said, there are a LOT more Intel bashers out there.

I personally have no problem with AMD, except that the chipsets from AMD, VIA, and especially SiS, and Ali are not as stable or compatible as an Intel chipset. There is no such thing as a 100% Intel compatible chipset, unless it says Intel on the chip.

o and did i mention that you are a complete idiot... i have never seen an athlon (as much as i would like to) "kill" a p3 on a clock/clock comparison... It does win in most cases but by small amounts and in some cases it even loses to the p3 (q3a anyone?). I am getting really sick of this crap about AMD rulez or Intel rulez... just leave them well enough alone. Both companies deserve respect, intel for their years of experience and great products/innovations and AMD for their longevity and recent success. There is room for both you know...
