Have you seen the Halo 2 trailer? :D Take a look if you haven't... make sure you have a clean pair of undies handy if you wet yourself that often with the Doom Alpha ;)
I've seen the Halo 2 trailer, and while it looks pretty damn good, it has nothing on Doom 3. I've been trying to play Halo lately, but I just can't get used to using the gamepad for a FPS.
I totally agree... whoever was the genius who decided FPS games would be fun to play on a gamepad should have bad things happen to them! :D

Considering the XBox uses a custom GF2 chip and that almost all Doom3 shots have been with a GF4+ or equivalent chip, you'd hope it would look better.

And I don't see what the problem is with FPS and gamepads - the past 4 days I've played Halo system-linked vs my cousins - there are times where I did wish I had a mouse/kb combo but all in all you just need to play it more to appreciate how the gamepad

XBox has an NV2A chip - a "geForce 3 1/2" - not a gF2 derivative.

Well, I would say Deus Ex 2 because I loved the original and it's the only one I haven't seen. ( Yes, I've played both the Doom III and Unreal II alphas. Anyone PMing me for a link gets a free kick in the ass and a forwarded message to the mods. :| ) But I'm going to have to say that Doom III is what I'm looking forward too. :)

Well, part of my beef with the whole console FPS gamepad thing is that when the designers know they are making a game like this for a console, they either add a noob targeting system, or they develop the game in a very horizontal plane... without the freedom to look up an down with great accuracy, it's too hard to put targets up high or low, so the dev's opt not to do it, in favor of something less creative and immersive...
Halo is cool on XBOX, but it would have been much sweeter on PC...

Also, if it's not too late, why are all you guys waiting so anxiously for these particular games? I know all 3 of them will have eye-popping graphics, which interests me a lot because I am a graphics guy... But I am also looking forward to being scared by Doom again, being totally immersed in Deus Ex agian, and blowing up aliens in Unreal again! All that will ROCK!

Im looking forward to doom 3 because after playing it ive found it plays a lot more like an first person adventure than a shooter... true it still has all the crazy looking enemys, mass amounts of guns, and all the gore (PLENTY of gore) but it seemed a lot slower paced than games like Unreal. The best way I can describe it is imagine you were playing Resident Evil first person (sept even more scary).

I think id had to slow it down, because to make the game look even more real, you have to make the character walk at a normal pace. Plus, the levels are prolly gonna be a mite smaller than other games where you run around quickly... so if you walk slower, you don't have to walk thruogh as long of a hallway! heh heh...
I appreciate the slower walk though... It certainly does make the game much more lifelike, and creepy...
Andnothing beats that alpha level where the big monster bursts out of the pipes! That little piece falling off at first just makes your stomach turn because you know something bad is headed your way!

I totally remember the part where the big half machine monster jumps out of the pipes... Amazing visuals...
But in regards to game speed could it be ID is making the character walk slower so you can admire the graphics? bragging so to speak. just a thought :)

I am sure thats one of the reaons why, but imagine how dorky it would feel if youwere running through it as fast as your UT2k3 character! Plus you'd just fly through the level, and wonder what the big black shadow you saw at the beginning was coming from... It's gotta be slower!

I agree, but a big part is restraining yourself. For me it is so tempting to shoot through a game that I have been anticipating "forever" and than being dissapointed when I beat it in like 3 days. Now I make myself slow way down, and in the case of "scary" games I only play them when I am by myself and it is night.
