Favorite UPCOMING FPS

Okay, this time it's a smaller poll... I am eagerly anticipating all three of these games, since I have played all of their predecessors to death! Deus Ex 2 is looking awesome and I can't wait for more action like the first game... After playing UT2k3 these last few months I have a hunger for more cool worlds from Unreal 2... And after checking out all the E3 footage possible (and a little preview on my own machine courtesy of Direct Connect ) I must say that Doom 3 is gonna be awesome as well! Which one would you rather buy? For me, it's gonna be a tough choice between Doom 3 and Deus Ex 2, but I know at one point I will buy all three...
Once all my hardware has been upgraded... again!

Tough choice between those three, but, DOOM ]I[ takes my vote, because i have ALWAYS SAID(believe me, as soon as i began seeing it in tech demos, etc) that bump mapping would RULE the frickin world<lifts pinky finger up to mouth, a la Dr. Evil> as soon as developers would take the time to encorporate it into their games...

Hey, the realtime shadows are cool as well! But I agree that the bumb mapping adds a ton of extra detail... Although, I don't think it's absence in earlier games should be attributed to lazy programmers... I don't think our graphics cards have been capable or overall ocmpatible enough with it to make it into something that is put into games thus far...
But it looks sweet, and if you haven't already seen the leaked doom 3 alpha E3 demo I highly recommend you find it and try it out... It's not optimized enough to run well on much right now, but what is there is beyond incredible!
Also, DX2 will have realtime cast shadows (which surprised me), so I (graphically) I am interested to see how they pulled it off... I am sure the core games of all three will be cool by default, without all the eye candy!
But it sure does make it better! Heh heh.

Planetside. If I have to choose from the list, tho, Doom 3. Hopefully they don't Quake-ify it too much. :-/

Hey, no votes for DX2 yet? Man, I liked the first game! I voted for Doom 3 myself...
The only thing I am mad about is that they dumbed down the controls because it is coming out on PS2 and XBOX also... which is the dumbest thing ever since neither of those systems will be capable of the real time shadows they are putting in the game... Just as long as they don't ruin any more awesome games due to consoles (ie Halo) for a while, I will be happy.
And I don't wanna hear anyone say anything about that comment, because I don't care what fps you are playing, keyboard/mouse combo + high rez computer screen can't be beaten by tv and a dorky analog stick.

The FPS' I'm looking foward to are all on the XBox: Brute Force, (Feb 03) Halo2 (4th Q03), and the Starcraft FPS coming out in summer 03.

Hey I dunno about your crappy rig, but I don't need to upgrade! Just turn down the details a little bit and it'll be fine! I shoulda known you were an XBOX fan... If you can't look freely without fumbling with an analog control stick, it bites!

Deffinately Doom 3... After playing through the alpha around 30 times and wetting my self just as many, I can't see how the other games are going to compare.

Have you seen the Halo 2 trailer?
Take a look if you haven't... make sure you have a clean pair of undies handy if you wet yourself that often with the Doom Alpha

i have doom alpha...i almost sh!tted in my pants....i knw a ton of you saw the E3 video...but looking @ it for reals...unbelievable....and the game scares the hell outa me...i have a 5.1 speaker set...the depth of the sound and direction and quality is to me,...99% lifelike...

I've seen the Halo 2 trailer, and while it looks pretty damn good, it has nothing on Doom 3. I've been trying to play Halo lately, but I just can't get used to using the gamepad for a FPS.

Bah, I had no trouble getting used to that... Goldeneye paved the way for Halo a long time ago.

I didn't say it had anything on Doom 3 from a graphical point of view, to me it seems that they are going to be comparable graphically. The story may be a little better in Halo

I totally agree... whoever was the genius who decided FPS games would be fun to play on a gamepad should have bad things happen to them!
