I found the end of Dragon Age harder than I like. One of my chars just couldn't do it, and the other wasn't a lot of fun. (No spoilers).

There's so many from the SNES/PS1 days but I think my favorite is still the one that turned me back on to RPG's as a kid.

Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals

As far as rpgs on the PC: I would probably say betrayal at krondor and neverwinter nights are probably my two. Diablo 2 is up there if were including those games.

Final Fantasy 1 on the NES. I've played through this game at least a dozen times. Just brings back old memories of being a kid.

Fallout 3 and NV are also on my list, just barely behind FF1.

SWAW. Its faster than the rpg-7 so easier to hit hard targets. Also no lock or guiding so you can do snap shots and get to cover before the enemy returns fire.

I've loved many RPGs over the years. Many people love Planescape: Torment, and I agree it's a great RPG, but it's not for everyone.

My favorite RPGs I would say:
PC (out of like 100000 I've played):
- Wizardry 7
- Betrayal at Krondor
- Baldur's Gate

Console (out of like 10000 I've played):
- Gladius
- Suikoden 3
- Final Fantasy X

Baldur's Gate 2
Planescape Torment
KOTOR
Fallout 1 and 2
Deus Ex
Fallout 3 and NV
Skyrim and Morrowind
Ultima 7 and Ultima Underworld 2
Dragon Age :Origins
Divinity Original Sin
Mass Effect 1,2,3 (especially 2)

For me, in order of preference, it's definitely :

1) Dragon Age: Origins (+ DLCs, + Awakening)

In my book it doesn't really get any better than DAO so far.

2) Mass Effect
3) Mass Effect 2 (+ DLCs)

The original Mass Effect is the best sci-fi RPG I've ever played, period. I loved ME2 as well, but the main story arc failed flat (what made ME2 strong nonetheless was pretty much everything else, especially each individual character's own stories and loyalty missions).

4) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
5) Diablo II (+ Lord of Destruction)

I've played many, many Star Wars games, from Super Star Wars on the SNES to The Force Unleashed and giving a try to The Old Republic. But the best Star Wars game to date (in my opinion) is still KOTOR (as a big RTS player I have to add, however, that I particularly liked and was very surprised by Empire at War, one of the only few good Star Wars sleeper hits out there). I know that a lot of people consider The Old Republic to be pretty much "KOTOR 3" with a different title and set online, but I disagree. A real take on an offline original KOTOR-style, Mass Effect and/or DAO-inspired KOTOR 3 would be a thousand times better.

As for ARPG, there's only a few choices (for me, anyway), and when thinking about it it always comes down (and back) to the almighty classic Diablo II (with Lord of Destruction, but DII vanilla was also superb, unfortunately I only got to play vanilla for barely one month before I decided to go buy the expansion pack since it had just been released).

And Dragon Age: Inquisition is on its way soon, it might end up being good enough to replace one of those in my above list.

Mine weren't ranked...pretty hard to rank them for me as it depends on my mood.

But it would probably be...

1) Baldur's Gate 2
2) Deus Ex
3) Planescape Torment
4) Fallout 2
5) KOTOR

I've played many, many rpgs but the one that stuck with me the most is Chrono Cross for whatever reason. I still listen to the soundtrack to this day.

Tier 1 (order of preference)
Knights of the Old Republic
Final Fantasy VII
Diablo II
Knights of the Old Republic 2
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

Tier 2 (no order)
Baldur's Gate 2 (probably deserves higher, but I played it around 2011 or so)
Diablo III
Dungeon Siege 2
FFX
FFXII
FXIII
Neverwinter Nights 2 (played all the way through the regular campaign)
FFVII: Crisis Core (first Final Fantasy I played)
