Mine would have to be Nas - Illmatic. IMO this album is required listening for any Hip-Hop fan.

even though i dont like rap/hiphop, i do enjoy the old school rap and would have to say the chronic. all this new rap-crap you here on the radio is garbage. Like there are hiphop-boybands...wtf? and snoop with pharel(sp), when did snoop actually start "singing"... i dont know but he should stop.

Sorry but this is going off topic, wtf is everyone making political songs now? the only ppl who should be doing that is rage because they were good at it, there is no more rage. plz stfu with yer political songs. like "american idiot", give me a fvcking break.

back on topic.....

I completely agree. I am only 15 years old, but I like the older rap MUCH more. I never listen to the radio anymore as it is all garbage. Also I agree about Snoop. His first album was good, but his newest stuff is terrible. Same goes for alot of rappers that have been in the business for a while. Their first couple albums were good, but then they started going mainstream andnow they suck.

I will see your Illmatic and raise you a Reasonable Doubt.

Honestly, the impact both of these albums had was amazing.

Also, A Tribe Called Quests album was standard listening in the tri-state area.

There's really too many to name.

But personally, for me the one to have the most effect on me was Reasonable Doubt, followed closely by 36 Chambers and Illmatic.

I don't listen to a ton of rap, but my favorite is the Deltron 3030 self-titled album.

The production on that is so crazy and underrated.

That is easily, very easily, one of the best produced albums in the last 10 years.
