Cortland... yum. Slightly tart, really snappy skinned apple.

DrPizza, Anubis, maybe a few others will know the type. The rest of you may not. I think it's area specific.
I am aware and enjoy Empires as well as Cortlands.

Cortland's sounds good, I love tart apples.

By the way, whats worse than finding a worm in your apple?

Jonagolds and Fujis for me, tart but not too tart. I find the bites with skin a little more apeeling but the inner part is fine as well.

The flesh is the sweet part, so that's really what I'm after. I don't mind the skin though. It makes for a pleasing snapping sound and interesting texture. If I had to choose I could do without the skin but without the flesh I wouldn't be interested at all.

I pretty much like any part of the apple that's surrounding the core....with the exception of the stem! ;)

flesh is sweet, skin is bitter (relatively), need BOTH to have the right flavor! either alone is too unbalanced. if i had to pick, would be flesh though.

in HS i used to eat the entire apple, excluding stem. since then my appetite has become normal and I can bring myself to part with the core.
