What about the strips of paper with the candy dots on them?

They were always a favorite of mine. They weren't much to taste, but the colorful presentation, and the novelty of dots on a paper made them special :^)

I don't know about being "old school" but if I want candy, I always buy Almond Joy follow by Baby Ruth.

I'm an old fuck...I remember when most candy cost a penney...candy bars were a nickle. Almost NO individual candy cost more than a dime.

Then again, Marvel and DC comic books were a dime...and the ads in them...WOW! Sell 12 boxes of cards...get a free prize!

My daughter came across some comics from the 60's and 70's the other day. (worn and beat-up, no resale value) I had forgotten about the "Magic X-ray Specs" and some of the other crap they sold in those...

I think the cheapest I remember a candy bar being was 15¢, definitely no more than 20¢. I sold those stupid cards a couple of times. I got a crappy skateboard the one time, and I don't remember the other. I did learn a valuable lesson though. I learned that I don't want to have anything to do with sales :^D

Edit:
For grammar

I liked those miniature wax bottles that you ripped the top of with your teeth and drank the bit of sugary juice on the inside. Can't remember the name. Anyone?

yeah, those were awesome. Then you would throw the bottle in your mouth and chew the wax to get the last drops of flavor out of them.

Probably my favorite all time candy, with rootbeer bottlecaps a close second.

OMG, Circus Peanuts are full of 100% suck. I have no idea how those things are still made :^D

I also agree on the Necco wafers. I really want to like them due to their long history, but they're just bland and chalky :^(

So YOU'RE the reason they still make them... :^D

You probably consume 60% of their annual production. The other 40% are first timers who don't know any better :^P

yeah, I never understood the circus peanut people. I've known a few in my lifetime, and I've come to the conclusion that there is a serious discord between those of us in this world that loath circus peanuts (as any rational human would), and those that love them.

I'm currently testing a theory that love of circus peanuts derives from a translocation on the q arm of the 20th chromosome, which also seems to be responsible for a strange addiction to AM talk radio.

Circus Peanuts are bad, real bad. But I bet most here would agree Candy Corn is far more vial. When I was young my mom did not let me have much candy at all. Like twice a year. And I think I still would have turned down Candy Corn if that was my only candy option.

Yea, they're terrible also. You know you've been to a hateful house when you get candy corn for Halloween :^D Nasty wax, and sugar :^(

Atomic Fireballs were great.

When I used to play little league, we would get those, save up all our spit and then make these huge stains on the sidewalk 😀 good times

I love candy corn. Not as much as mr circus peanuts up there, but its a good candy.

Favorite old school candies: pop rocks, blow pops, jolly ranchers.

I love me some GOOD candy corn. Much of what's sold is pure crap...but there are a couple of manufacturers that make it right.

Bwahahahahaha, AM talk radio is about all I listen to now. I think you're on to something.

Oh man, I must have a screw loose because I love candy corn too. Eat the white/yellow part first, then the orange. Even though they taste the same, that's how I have to do it.
