I've always found it much more fun to play multiplayer games with the competition sitting next to you. The wins seem so much sweeter, the losses so much more demoralizing. It adds so much intensity, I want to find more as my friend and I play daily and are always looking to 1 up each other.

Neither of us like FPS games

Anyone got some more suggestions? looking for well balanced ones, that involve equal strategy and coordination.
 
All versions of Super Smash Bros., most Mario Karts, Star Fox 64, GoldenEye, Mario Parties, Warioware, Halos, Left 4 Dead(360) off the top of my head.
