i always like adventure games, so some of my favorites are Sierra's Quest series. i think i played all of them, Space Quest, Police Quest, Hero's Quest (before they changed the title to Quest for Glory, by then it got weird), did i miss any? also Lucasarts adventure games, starting from Loom, Maniac Mansion, Indiana Jones, Monkey Island, and all their sequels.

however, my all-time favorite game (series) will be the AD&D Gold Box series.
two series actually, the Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance.

man, those games hardly have any graphics at all and CGA is all you need, but damn i can play these games for hours and hours. even after i finished the game i would go out to the forest or some place unsafe, just to find some monsters to fight. ahh.. good old times :)

That's true man. I still try to go back and play Pool of Radiance every now and then. I thought that one was the best of them all, although some of the Dragonlance ones were pretty damn good as well. I never was a fan of Secret of the Silverblades (I think that's the title) though.

ah yes, Pool of Radiance is actually the first one that got me hooked (it is the first one in the series afterall). the game design isn't very good and there were bugs here and there, especially when traveling through the 'wilderness' :) i was just learning how to play the game (any computer game btw) then, so i had to admit that i only finish it up with the walkthrough. but hey i was in sixth grade.. heheh..

then i bought Champions of Krynn and found that i'm really good at playing this type of games and i completed this one in no time. by then i got hooked and bought all of the games in both series when they come out.

in 1999 i bought the forgotten realms archives on CD (includes all four of the FR original series and some more). i thought i would play it once in a while but never got around on doing it. still have the CD though.

The wilderness portion is what made me like Pool more than the others. It seemed to be a bit more open in things that you could choose to do or not to do. I don't remember there being a lot of side quests in the other games but they were fun in their own way. Plus, clearing out the city blocks was just great fun. I still remember the massive fight in the church like it was yesterday... although I can't seem to remember the name of the city block. It's the temple that has all kinds of undead outside but inside you end up fighting like 100 kobolds.

Excitebike!!!

Actually, Legend of Zelda for the NES was awesome at the time and has held up pretty well. A Link to the Past is great, too.

Roller Coaster Tycoon.

But, that may be debunked soon as Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 looks to be incredible.

IL-2 Sturmovik: The Forgotten Battles + Ace Expansion Pack.

The single best video game I have every played in terms of realism, graphics, replayability, damage modeling, online action (it gets freaking nuts online!), and overall greatness.

Just put the new 9800XT in my system. With landscape detail set on perfect, the water is fan-freaking-tastic.

Allow me to drive home my point.

I have a modest system. AthlonXP 2100+, 512mb RAM. Brand new videocard 9800XT (that part isn't modest!). I can run this game on max detail at decent resolutions with very good framerates (you drop some over big cities and when you are close to massive explosions. But when you are near massive explosions, you are probably dead, anywho.)

So I just took this screencap about three minutes ago, to show you guys how fantastic this game is, and let me believe you the gameplay leaves nothing to be desired.

Why you should buy IL-2:FB + AEP
