As kids, we used to put GI JOE in a shoebox, float him on the creek, then light the ship on fire. :)

The other part of the fire phase was to test if the firefighter outfit was really fire-resistant. Hey, the box had a picture of him standing in the flames!

Guess what? The thing went up on a second. :(

Man, I have to agree with Total Refected Power here:

Any of the 12 inch models were the best, not the stupid mini-ones they have today or that cartoon series which I tried to watch but just couldn't.

The Kung-Fu grip guys were fun.
Used to toos the parachute guy off the roof of my house: sometimes without his parachute.
Has the scuba and submarine guys for my pool.
I used to put firecrackers under mine to simulate artillry bombardments -- those guys took a beating.

I still give my mother grief over the fact that she never got the the G.I. Joe Training Center I wanted for Christmas one year -- and that was along time ago :)

TRP: Don't know if you ever saw this, but there was a short film made by a guy a year or two ago.
Can't remember the name but it was very cool and brought back a lot of memories.
It was basically a kids room that had all the different 12 inch models in it.
It's warm summer day so the kid leaves the room to go play outside.
When he does, all the G.I. Joes come to life and start having a blast in the room, they're driving their jeep all over, the parachute guy jumps off the bookcase, etc., etc.
It was really fabulous.

Duke Leto:

Wow, cool. I had the Kung Fu and regular grip full size GI Joes. I even got the first "black" GI Joe. I loved the vehicles. There was the yellow desert vehicle and the orange/red treaded vehicle with the big radio that attached to the back. The best was the "SeaWolf" submarine. Not that was a blast. The deep sea diver was cool too. I remember really wanting the Helicopter but never getting it. Was pissed at the time.

Parachuting from the 2nd floor of the house was always a blast. Especially in snow storms. I also remember shaving the hair off those guys. Those toys really took a beating.

Didn't see the movie. :(

Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Duke, Hawk (the leader, hell yeah!), and Serpentor were awesome. Flint got on my nerves cuz he was always hitting on the chick.

I love G.I. Joes. I miss them :(:(:(

The dolls today in mint condition (yeah, who the h*ll would keep them like that) are worth like $1-2,000 ( I think).

The G.I. Joe Training Center is like $15-30,00 I think.

I saw these prices on a TV show (Antiques Roadshow maybe?) a while ago, but I was surprised at how much they were worth.
