I saw this a couple of years ago. It was amazing.
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring

I'd avoid reading the full plot outline on that link. Says a little too much IMO.

All you need to know:
"A young boy lives in a small floating temple on a beautiful lake, together with an elderly master who teaches him the ways of the Buddha."

Amelie was a bit too "awww shucks" cute so, while I enjoyed it, it's not a favorite... Well done though, by the director of Alien 4!

Have Water sitting in my dvd player, have yet to see it (Deepha Mehta, a chick not a dude).

I liked Unleashed... I know it's not art but I found it entertaining and oddly sweet. And, ok, I really like massive attack's score for it. It's the #1 movie people disagree with me on. I've made friends watch it and they really don't like it while i love it. So I can't say that I "get it" - it's a silly movie that just gets to me for some reason.

Das Boot
Princess Mononoke
Blue
Yojimbo
Ju Dou
Patlabor 1
Angst Essen Seele Auf (Fear Eats The Soul- hard to find but worth it)
Shogun Assassin (Lone Wolf And Cub series)
El Mariachi

I love foreign movies and I hated Amelie. I'm sure I messed up this list due to poor memory.

Yup, remembered one.

I really like a lot of japanese movies. Princess Mon is a great one. Amelie was good too. Recently Pan's labyrinth was really really good.

Ohohohoho... this movie. I borrowed this movie from my cousin and it was unexpectedly good. At one point, I asked my brother if he thought this movie was better than Saving Private Ryan and he said yea. I thought so too, but I like Saving Private Ryan as well and you can't deny the intro scene in Saving Private Ryan. Tae Guk Gi did it for me emotionally though.

King of Hearts, The (FR: Roi de coeur, Le) (1966) http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0060908/

The French version with english subtitles. The dubbed version is not as good for sure.

1372 'IMDb users' have given a weighted average vote of 7.1 / 10

Demographic breakdowns are shown below.
Votes Percentage Rating

18 . . . . . 1.3%...... 3
12 . . . . . 0.9%...... 2

70% of all votes were for 8 or higher. I could surmise that many of the lower votes were cast because of the subtitles.
