Don't forget Antitrust the movie, when Justin Timberlake gets via satellite to send the message that Tim Robbins is a bad guy.

Also, You've Got Mail.

I agree with the rest on the matter of the uber cool OS's that they have. I guess it is more interesting to look at than explorer opened up with a page full of files.

edit: and it seems that little kids make excellent hackers.

oh yeah. He hit like 8 keys and made 2 animated characters that looked exactly like him and that chick. haha, that reminds me of that old facemaking program they used to have a long while ago... anyone remember that?

um...can't believe no1 said this before, but my vote goes for Weird Science

scanning different parts of a woman's body and logging into some computer woman....😛

Slightly related:

In "Rumble in the Bronx" there is a child who is cleary playing a Game Boy without a game cartridge. heh

I would imagine that a computer hacker spends most of his time in front of a computer, is generally out of shape (not fat, but maybe that too), and lacks a little bit of social skill (still has friends and what not though). But not in movies! In movies, they are exceptionally good looking, very atheletic, have killer bodies, and have the hottest girl friends. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiighhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

Well, they weren't movies, but how about Max Headroom and Knight Rider.

Sometimes the console in Knight Rider even said "Run OK" at the bottom. I believe that was the result when BASIC programs were run.

Check out the computer professionals in the movie War Games....

"Back up your C drive to the floppy disk"

Just watched boiler room, and I laughed my *ss off at that line. Any favorite moments in a movie where something totally dumb is said in relation to computers?
Just so you know, they said "Back up your Client list to floppy" not "C drive".

Not movie, but TV. On the last 24 season when Kim runs out of the hospital and grabs the LCD monitor on the way out for a distraction.

Not a single cable was connected to it...

in the matrix reloaded,
the girl just ssh into hte server and guesses the password ..
same thing in swodrfish
oh well

at least trinity used a combo of ssh and nmap... as opposed to, say... a 3d graphical interface made of several cubes that come together to forn one giant cube (swordfish)

i think some of you need to turn off the geek cap when watching movies... its strictly for entertainment! granted, sometimes its really stupid... but the whole "timing of hacking issue" and the "graphical interface's" are BECAUSE ITS A FRIGGEN MOVIE. its supposed to be exciting and cool... which we all know is not the truth 😀

Entertainment or not, it's still dumb 🙂

My vote goes toward this old, low budget local commercial for a PC shop. This dude's PC crashes so he opens up the computer and starts diggin' in there and in the next scene he's tangled up in ribbon cables and he has a hard drive in his mouth. Then he calls "Place X" (I don't remember the name) and bam, there's this guy there pointing at his monitor, which you can't see, and the guy who thinks HD's are yummy is all like.. "Thanks, Place X! I tried everything, you guys are great!"

Zoolander 😀

It was an orange iMac, thank you 🙂

Every movie out there...

EVERY DAMN TIME someone uses a computer you hear these stupid noises, beeps, etc. EVERY DAMN TIME! They really need to knock that sh!t off!

Ryan Phillipe(sp?) was the character, not J-Tim 🙂

But yeah alot of sh!t in that movie pissed me off too. My favorite was how he could look at all those movie files of his friends being killed when he was supposedly under unix at some daycare center. What kind of daycare would have unix on it? 🙂

Wow, I never even noticed that one 😀!

Simone - The "Virus" disk (a 5.25 floppy) ejects from the crack between bay faceplates on the "high end computer" (crusty 486 tower)

Are you sure? I am pretty sure they said C drive... I don't have this movie, can someone check? It's toward the end btw.

Exact words: "...and I want the whole C:\ Drive backed up on a floppy."
