the correct phrase I believe is "chang fen" or long rice noodles translated directly.
 
It used to love this breaded jumbo shrimp dish, served on top of broccoli and honey roasted walnuts, topped with a creamy sweetened condensed milk and mayo sauce. But I ate too much of it and got tired of it. I never seem to tire of this intestines and turnip dish though (I think that's what it is).

I might not know the name of the dishes (english or chinese), but the above is real chinese food.

well, it depends on translation, Chang Fen is cantonese, and I think/guess "xia chang" is mandarin???

I think the first is walnut shrimp and yeah its good. some places serve it without the broccoli.

also, I give you props for eating intestines. good man.

chang fen is mandarin but the cantonese sounds similar. Chang is long, fen is rice noodle, xia is shrimp. My guess is his server wanted to save time and just said "xia chang".

"Xia" is definitely Mandarin, coz its "Ha" in Cantonese. :cheers;
