That could be true, but those that appreciate the finer things do manage to get the quality products... Just like if you ask any chef, or person serious about cooking, they won't use a $20 chef knife (except to open up boxes or beat the crap out of cutting things that they should use a razor for, or utility knife). They'll go for the Henckles, Shun, and other QUALITY blades each and every time.
If you're serious about anything, get quality product... If you're not serious, or too poor to know that there IS better quality versions, then get the cheap crap. Just don't be surprised when it either fails or you have major issues caused by the cheap items...
You seem to only see the 2 extremes of the case market, the top end ones and the cheap crap. There are many cases that fall into the middle area. These are the cases I am asking about, the ones that that are not cheap crap, but are not built to the level as the top end cases. There are plenty of quality cases at or below $125. No, they are not as good as the $200+ ones, but they are worlds above the cheap crap cases. The world isn't just black and white, and the same applies to the case market.
I won't waste my time with the low end, or even moderate level cases. At least not for my own rigs. For customers, it all comes down to finding a case they like (visually) and a build quality I can live with. That can be more difficult than you would think.
BTW, this thread was about people's favorite case, not how cheap can you go or not below $xxx... Just so happens that MY favorite case is just over $200 right now. My dream case is close to $300, depending on where you get it and if there are any specials going on.

If your favorite case is $200+ and you can afford it, more power to you. I can tell by your rig that you have no problems affording the best. Problem is a lot of people can't, including myself, so that is why I asked about good mid level cases.
While my favorite car is a BWM, when it comes time for me to buy a new car, I have to look at something else as I simply can't afford a BMW. Thus I inquire about cars that I can afford. What I don't appreciate is a BMW owner telling me that anything below a BMW is crap and that I shouldn't waste my money.
Would you prefer someone told you to put up either a Geo or Yugo (both of which cannot be purchased anymore BTW)??
As for my rig, I go for quality parts that I know won't fail and will last at least 3+ years. That way, I don't have to spend MORE later replacing failed parts when I could have spent just a little more and gotten something that would last. I didn't get all of my rig at the same time, but spaced it out over a couple of years. I'd replace one item with something of quality, then replaced something else when my needs exceeded what the item could deliver (video card and such). IF I could afford the very best, I'd be running with a FX-55 chip on a nforce 4 mobo with 4GB of memory and more... Still, I have every confidence that my rig, as it stands, will last me another 12-18 months before I look to do some upgrades. By then, at least a couple of generations will have come out, so I'll get even better hardware for my money.

Lol, no chef worth his weight uses Henckles anymore, it's all about Wusthof Classic now. 😉
And as for cases... I go mid-level. Good quality that will last without spending a fortune that could be spent on other parts. I also buy my parts over time, but I like more now than more latter so by spending only $80-100 on a case, I have more money to get that Ram/GPU/CPU/Whatever sooner.

Once again, black and white. What I was asking for was someone to recommend something like a Nissan, which is much better than a Yugo, but not to the level of a BMW. I only mention Nissan as I own a Maxima...;>
As for your rig, ya, it's a nice one, and you do make valid points as to why you bought what you did. However, not everyone can throw up that kind of money on a system, so we have to take some shortcuts at a few places, and the case is a perfect spot to do that. I am not saying I would go out and buy a cheap $20 case, but I don't see spending $200+ on one either. A lot of people buy cases in the $80-$125 range, just like Spike said above, and I was wondering what people in that area consider some of the better or more popular cases.
Notice I also included Shun, which is a new entry in my part of the country... Excellent quality (blows the crap out of the rest) but a few dollars more than the rest... Well worth every penny though, just like Lian-Li cases.
Personally, I don't drive a BMW and probably never will. Not because of the cost, more from wanting to buy from a company that at least is based in the US (even if the car is not completely made here). I do have a Ford truck that is serving me very well. It's not as cheap as some others, but it has all the features I was looking for in it when I was looking to buy. Now, I'm modifying that to suit my current desires.
As for a 'nissan' level case, well, there ARE cases that are more than even what Lian-Li produces (look at the Zalman case). I consider those more of the BMW/Lambo line where the Lian-Li cases ARE like cars made by Ford and such. You have the economy models, you have the trucks/SUV's and then you have the high priced 'luxury' models... Mine is more of the higher end truck/SUV, since they DO have more expensive models.
Look here and you'll see cases listed from about $130 to close to $400... Look on newegg at Lian-Li cases and you'll see ones from $85 through almost $300... Similar type of range, for the cases. So, you CAN get a good quality case, from a quality maker at under $125 IF you know where to look. What I don't like is people getting cases that we KNOW are made cheap, paying cheap money for them, and then biatching about how poor they are. OR complaining about how unstable their systems are (compounded by getting a cheap power supply).
Personally, I put off getting an item if I don't have the money right then, until I can save up for it. It took me a few weeks to set aside the money for the V1100B case, but I'm VERY glad that I did. If you're not all about getting the item NOW, you can save up for the good stuff...

A quality case is much different from an expensive case. Sure most if not all of the high priced cases are very well built, but you can find quality for under $200. I personally have a Lian-Li PC65-USB (in black) and it's a very well built case. It has all the features that I require for my PC, and I'm sure it will last me 3 years without failing (hey it's a freggin case after all). Seriously though, IMHO unless you have money to burn you're better off buying a mid level case and spending the extra money elsewhere. Why don't people drive around in the $100,000+ twin turbo corvettes that you can buy from aftermarket tuners? Well because people that don't have money to burn don't find that the small advantage of owning one to be worth the extra cost. It's all about diminishing marginal returns. After you get to a certain point you're just waisting your money. Now if you have a ton of money in your pocket, and you can't come up with a better use for it, those twin turbo vettes look pretty nice, as do the $300 cases, but they are hardly necessary.
The ~$300 case I'd like would be for a server, since it holds 12 hard drives and something like 7 optical drives... The V2100B would be for my next server...

When the case and/or PSU fails, and you've finished kicking yourself, then go and get a quality case and PSU... I fully expect to get 3+ years out of my PSU, or at least until my system changes enough to need more power in it (in about 1-1/2 years)... The case will remain, since it's built like a ROCK and looks damned good too...

My favorite case. Industrial, but good looking at the same time. Comes with a great PSU btw. and it's only $119 at newegg. Only bad thing is the cheapo plastic front door that I broke off before the mobo was even in 😱

My favorite case has to be the Raidmax ATX-268WSP. the price may be cheap but this is one high quality case. looks great to especaily after modding.

I've never really looked at any Silverstone cases... but after seeing the TJ05 and TJ06 I'm going to shop around for them! The TJ05 is now definitely one of my favorite-looking cases. If only it came with a side window...
i just got an Antec P160WF. its really nice, theres lotsa room for my watercooling. it was really easy to cut a hole on the top for my rad, and plenty of room inside for all the tubes and everything else. its not a huge full tower case, but not a really small mid tower. its right in between, which is perfect for me. i really like all of antec cases, but this is one of the best ive used.
