Faux outrage of the day- "not optimal"

Optimal is actually a really good choice of words to describe what these kinds of acts are from a high level view. I applaud Obama for his choice of wording here, i probably would have used something similar. Favorable maybe?

Wait - the post below yours says that Obama was just repeating Stewart's words - why should the President get credit for that?

They're not really trying to convince anybody, but rather to hold the faithful in emotional thrall. They're quite desperate even to accomplish that, obviously.

It means that their arguments lack substance, that they're trying to compensate for that, to avoid the real issues & manufacture their own out of thin air. Emotion clouds judgment, and they'll do their best to keep it cloudy.

Actually the scientific evidence indicates that emotion clouds conservative brains more than it does liberal ones because the part of the brains of conservatives that is larger in conservatives stokes up fear and the part of the brains of liberals that is larger dampens it so it doesn't block rational analysis. This is the advantage and disadvantages of having conservatives in the population. They are good to have around in those rare times when the sky is actually falling, but a pain in the ass bunch of screaming whiners and wolf callers the rest of the time. And if you don't placate the raving insane when they get scared they will turn on you and call you the enemy. This is what the paranoid mind does. We create what we fear and conservatives fear Armageddon and that fear created the very irrationality of judgment that causes it to happen.

Simply put, conservative fear creates the things conservatives fear and liberals rationally fear that fact. The only thing to fear is fear itself. Conservatives don't realize they are cowards.

Their enlarged right amygdalas are doubtless there due to childhood trauma and the authoritarian suppression they experienced as children.

Ah - that explains it. He was being told what to say.

I know you're just playing dumb but let me spell it out.

Jon Stewart basically said: Your handling of this was not optimal.
Obama responded: When 4 Americans die, it's "not optimal".

If all you see is Obama saying "not optimal" without the context and quotation marks, it looks like a gaffe, but it's not.

The difference must be obvious to an irrational conservative brain, no?

Movie guy voice.
John Stewart is The Teleprompter.

Should be a great movie.

Teleprompter is an in bubble code word that implies all sorts of hairy and arcane neuronal implanted associations among altered reality speak conservative folk but outside the bubble just means that somebody is talking like a brainwashed delusional idiot.

So GWB can joke like an asshole by looking under his notepad for WMD, while thousands of Americans are getting maimed and killed over manipulated/faulty intelligence, all to the tune of hundreds of billions of tax payer dollars... and somehow there is barely a murmur from those on the right.

Obama goes on a comedy show, echoes a curious choice of words regarding the deaths of 4 Americans, and holy shit frothy mugs O Rage for all! How dare he!!!!

Stupid republican election year theatrics duly noted, summarily laughed at.

Next bullshit issue?

See this is whats messed up with the left.

Their outrage is always justfied (Ryan's pic).

The right outrage is always 'faux'.

Then they are surprised by the answers they hear from the right, because they are in a state of self delusion that everything the right says is a lie. Its a lie because that's what they call it.

Nothing but a circular argument on the left.

Republicans are liars.

Why?

Because republicans lie.

That is a circular argument only if there was no history of Republicans lying.

Take all of the people who care about this issue.

Subtract from that all of the people who would never vote for Obama under any circumstances.

You're left with the null set.

That pretty much sums up about 80%-90% of what I've seen the GOP and it's echochamber peddle the last 3 years. Well said.

Yes, but without the constant reinforcement of the adrenalin kick provided by liberal hating they could experience withdrawal depression and might lack the motivation to get to the polls. Their handlers can't allow that.

Obama was answering a question posed by Stewart, who used the word "optimal." I'm not sure what we're even discussing here...

Wait - the post below yours says that Obama was just repeating Stewart's words - why should the President get credit for that?

Because it was an appropriate choice of words? Plus he wasn't quoting John, he was agreeing with his word choice, which I am also agreeing with. Optimal isn't a word created by John Stewart, at least that I'm aware of.

This 'gaffe' nearly as laughable as lipstick on a pig. He was using the phrase almost sarcastically to make a point. To paraphrase:

Stewart: Is how the government handled this optimal?
Obama: Of course it's 'not optimal' when four Americans are killed.

Another paraphrase:

Stewart: Did the government handle this perfectly?
Obama: Perfect? Four Americans are dead--that's not perfect.

Taken in a soundbyte, it is a poor choice of words, but that's it

Because Obama is a weak muslim communist sympathizer. The proper right wing response to the killing of the four Americans is launch a trillion dollar war, complete with Halliburton and other contractors sucking up most of the money, killing thousands of innocent bystanders and a lot of Americans, and then declaring "mission accomplished".

Have trouble producing a coherent thought do we?

How coherent can it be for a right wing smear machine to go off on cue when Obama attacks the notion that there could be anything optimal about what happened. He was criticizing Stewart for even using such a pathetic word for what did and didn't happen. It has nothing at all to do with optimal when Americans die, you fucking idiots, not that such performance is less that optimal. You fucking smear machines stink.

It's the Republican way
