sorry but i have to warn people on this, a friend bought one when it was first advertised, and unless all you want to do is read books on it, look elsewhere. the screen is unresponsive, it's dog slow, it's extremely flimsy, and the battery lasts just a couple of hours. my friend returned it within a week

The battery lasts 2-3 hours when in STANDBY mode... standby mode!! the reviews ive read say this thing will last about an hour when you are actually using it.

Products like these make me smile.. Many people attack the ipad saying its way too expensive for what you get. This this is 1/5 of the price but its complete and utter junk. Can anyone here post a tablet with similar specs and battery life to the ipad for less then what the ipad costs?

Nope. And if somehow there was, support and a shitty interface with broken english would still kill it. An Ipad would also retain its value down the road.

My friend bought one of those Galaxy S things recently and it was SLICK! I'm an android fan anyway but this was so cool! If you want android then that is the way to go. I played with an IPad and it was nice. His was the 7'' Galaxy and the size/form factor seemed to work better, IMO, than the IPad. I wouldn't want that big. It even fit in his pocket. They do have a bigger Galaxy.

i just watched theregister review of the galaxy and it looks really nice which lot of features ipad doesnt have yet like camera and storage. but its way overpriced

One day ... They are getting there... I really want a pad running on a droid OS. We'll see. Wait long enough and eventually they will challenge the ipad.

16GB Galaxy Tab with 3G $599
16GB Ipad with 3G $629.
So the Galaxy Tab is $30 cheaper, easier to carry around, has 2 cameras, and flash support. Upgradable memory, more RAM, lighter.
Seems like a better value to me.

Well, that's all true. But the iPad has a more responsive UI, better apps, and is a better browsing experience. A lot of that will be fixed with Gingerbread, but who knows when it will come out?

No flash is not better browsing experience. flash is nasty - but still better than nothing.

The Galaxy I used was just as snappy, if not snappier than the IPad I used, the apps are over 100K and growing (easier to develop for and more open for developers) and as for browsing experience...flash anyone?

I thought the iPad was quicker, still more apps for iOS, and I really don't care about flash on something like that. I don't care, I don't own either unit. I'm just saying that the iPad still feels like a more polished product.

And 7" vs 10" screen.

IMHO, with that 3" smaller screen of Galaxy Tab, it should be cheaper, lighter and faster than it is right now.

And about Flash support.. Koreans who bought Galaxy Tab actually complains that if you go to the website that actually use Flash (not just for one simple Flash ad), it slows down quite bad. The solution was, obviously, disabling Flash.

I'll take my 12" Asus netbook over either, dual boots Linux and Windows 7, and I'm not locked into an extremely closed source OS where every app has to be approved before you can even look at it.

I do have an iPhone, and it's nice because it goes in my pocket and I can IRC or play poker while I'm sitting on the toilet, but it's not a replacement for a PC. Neither of these are either.
