Faulty claims, video card performance

It really perturbs me when a site claims a video card will render a game with x amount of FPS, but does not tell you the whole story.
For example, Anandtech had an article indicating the 8800 gts could run rainbow six las vegas with everything enabled. Well, sure, it can, but not all the time. Even with my card running 625/1800 overclocked I had to keep shadows and blur at medium to keep my framrates above the 30 mark. With everything enabled I had areas drop down to 19fps, definitely not playable. And yes my CPU was more than sufficient to run the game, overclocked e6700, 3000mhz.

hows your memory looking like...and is the performance always like that in any other game or is it just rb6?

FPS in reviews (anandtech anyhow) are averages. Given that they show the GTS averaging 32FPS @ 1600x1200, dips to 19FPS are pretty much a given.

what they give you is the average fps...minimum frames are expected to be much lower anyways

pretty much common sense

That's a bit harsh.

Minimum framerates in addition to average really helps give a more accurate picture of a game's performance. You may want to check reviews that list both the next time.

GPU/CPU/Memory reviews, etc, are all irrelevant, because they are tested with a combination of hardware that isn't the market's universal case. Not everywhere and everyone runs a system with the exact same combination, which gives different results and is usually misleading for the consumers.

In other words it's called marketing.

My $300 360 plays it silky smooth and I am doing the whole 1080P too. :)

The GTS is like $500 just for the card.......
That being said I have a GTX.....

If you feel it was fauls advertising I can see how you might be upset but I don't think that?s what the article meant to do.
