Yea, because that's etched in fuckin' stone by god himself. We CERTAINLY couldn't do anything differently, cause god will send a lightning bolt up our asses :^S

its the way airports are setup. i cant even fathom how your suggestion would even be possible. thank god you are not part of airport ops.

They should have economy class seats done in 5 per row or 4 per row sections and priced appropriately for people with either just want more space without 1st class luxury or can't fit comfortably in a normal seat. Hell I fit just fine and I would pay the extra 20% for a 5 across seats so I'm not cramped all the tiem.

Im 6'7 and weigh 300 lbs and workout 6 days a week.

I am in good shape, better than most.

Anyone that tries to charge me nore because of my weight simply wont get my money.

To be honest the thought if this idea is offensive to me, in shape or not.

You are also so far to the right of the size/shape bell curve that your opinion is completely irrelevant.

I'm all for this if it also means we can take the really skinny people and stow them in the overhead cabins, cause they really don't need all that space to sit.

Well that is awfully selfish of you to be offended. Is it within your right to not pay though.

I agree with this guy. ..

Gotta break a few eggs to make an omlette. There's no perfect solution for anything.

I find it funny people think this would mean cheaper prices for some.

All that would happen is the prices would stay the same except for fatties who get charged more because they can.

This. The ignorance in this thread is strong. The airlines aren't going to give up ANY money from anything whether it's luggage fees, the inevitable restroom fees, or charges for skinny or fat people.

I have no illusion that this would leave my fares exactly where they are, but it would be nice for humans that are twice the size and weight of normal humans to pay accordingly.

Why couldn't you be weighed while you're getting radiated by the TSA? You have to stand there getting your asshole checked anyway. There's no reason you can't stand on a scale.

I can't imagine anyone that has used an airport in the last decade would actually believe that adding a requirement to weigh and potentially charge a differential for every single passenger wouldn't have a significant impact on the throughput.

The idea of using government workers who are there for "security" to also enforce various airline weight rules is even worse.

No thanks. Less people flying means more people driving, means more idiots on the road. The more people that fly the better.

Nah, I'm sure there will be airlines that will cater to the fatties, like Fattie Airlines. They can fly there, just not on my plane. No fats please.

I can be offended if I want to be dude. It's not selfish. I have many larger friends and family that fly a lot and my opinion is just as valid as yours.

No I don't have a "smurf" account, it was a joke, thanks for noticing.

An economist is suggesting that airlines should charge based on weight. This makes sense, since the cost for you to fly is tied to how much you weigh.

It doesn't make sense. The problem is that air fares are seldom dependent on the airlines' non-labor costs to operate the aircraft.

If airfares were dependent on operating costs, then why do I pay more for non-stop direct flights than flights with layovers? 😡
