i would want her to be gorgeous and intelligent... and until she's 18, i'm gonna sit outside the house, on a rocking chair, with a shotgun, when a guy comes to pick her up on a date...
after she's 18... its her perogative.
Easy to say, really tough to do. After 18 that is... I've met some fathers that are really cool about it though.
That reminds me, the next time I go home I need to have a talk with my cousin Matt about my cousin Katie (his younger sister). He will be a sophomore next year, and she will be in 8th grade. It is time to tell him that part of his responsibility as her brother is to beat the living piss out of any guys that "mess" with her.

i know, i know... but that is something i am determined to do. i saw my uncle do it with my four cousins early on. he laid out exactly what he would pay / be responsible for and what he wouldnt. all four of my cousins graduated in the top 5 of high school, got, if not full, almost full scholarships to college, and are employed successfully.
however, implementation will still be difficult. i'll still stand by my child, but they will have to take responsibility for their own actions.
